We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Noe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ Noe, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
100% – surrounding myself with good people. People that have my and our community’s best interests at heart, that are genuine, reliable, good communicators, and passionate about our cause. Curating a solid crew around you is the biggest key to success, and without them I wouldn’t be nearly where I am today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a Latin dancer since 2010, but I’ve always loved going to all types of clubs, venues, and music festivals even before that. I always looked to female DJs with admiration but just figured that would never be me, since I would ‘never have’ the time to dedicate to it given my full time job as a UX researcher. Earlier this year with the encouragement of a few good friends, I decided to take a shot at DJing part-time. I instantly fell in love and saw that it was a fresh new way for me to enjoy Latin music and events. There are very few female Latin DJs relative to male Latin DJs, especially in this area. This is something that has both benefitted but also created challenges for me. I’ve recently started combining DJing with my passion for bringing people together through curating community dance events, and it’s allowed me to run wild with my creativity. In partnership with the dance company, CinciMovement, we’ve got some big things up our sleeve now for 2024!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it’s summertime, SALSA ON THE SQUARE at Fountain Square downtown! Every Thursday in the summer there’s dancing in the evening, amazing vendors, energetic teachers on stage, live music, and a packed afterparty at Frankie’s Sips and Savories. I love this event because you can be at any dance skill level and still enjoy yourself.

I’d also recommend walking around OTR and checking out all of the boutiques, unique food spots, and niche bars – special shoutout to Bee’s Barbeque and Al’s Delicious Popcorn!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to everyone that inspired me to start dancing all the way back to 2010, that inspired me to DJ earlier this year, and that have supported me along the way in advancing my skills and executing my crazy ideas.
