We had the good fortune of connecting with E.l. Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi E.L., why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Imagination is everything. I’ve always been artistic and creative. Now we have the alternative social structures and the creative tools available to make sharing our creativity much easier. I’m able to put content out from home.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m incredibly excited about what’s possible creatively. I’m in a more comfortable place with expressing myself. I have a much deeper understanding of myself as an artist I have more freedom within myself and that’s exciting. I’m still growing. We never stop growing. The challenge has been fighting comfort zones and thought programs. Stepping outside of any limiting thoughts and beliefs coming from myself or those around me.
I can push past because of my passion for the content. Ultimately I love coming up with stuff. I consider myself a creator, composer or producer. I’m primarily hip hop, some R&b, alternative and whatever else. I sing. I rap. I see it as casting my self as the voice in the song. Me as a rapper or singer has no identity or defined image. Only projections from a defined heart and an open mind. I’m really putting things together to express ideas. I explore my inner world, experiences of states of being and dreams. An intent of inspiration, love, healing and expansion. Things that expand my awareness and sense of connection. I’ve also started a book series sharing experiences documented in my dream journal. I love to explore ways to express myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Something inspiring! Maybe the Egyptian museum and then Coptic Cairo. Go to the Giza plateau getting a private tour of the Great pyramids. Go to the Karnak temple and valley of the kings. I hear those trips are better with a private group giving greater access and knowledge about the history. Introducing us to the local story tellers and best cuisine. Maybe stay at the Marriott Mena House in Cairo that has a balcony with a view of the pyramids. Take it all in and be inspired by it

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Children. They have been my biggest supporters. Emotional, mental and spiritual.
