Meet Eric Six | Film Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Six and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my successes is probably the ability to have flexibility within my creative processes as an actor. Within the acting world, things can change on a dime. For example, you could run into a scenario where the scene you should be filming in a week is now the first shot of the day, when you arrive on set. I just always make sure I have a flexibility to make these changes happen. My job as an actor is to deliver the emotions within a given scene no matter what is happening. There is an ongoing joke, within the entertainment industry, that money is constantly burning on a film set. So, if for some reason a scene is taking longer than usual that is more money for production to spend. So, if you are an actor that is able to go in and deliver great takes and make flexible changes when needed, producers will love you and potentially bring you back for future projects.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Becoming an actor and being in actor is not easy. You have to be able to go into an audition and do it, then leave that audtition in the room. You also have to be able to be your true authentic self. If you don’t know who you are, then you are going to have a difficult time trying to be another character. There is only one you and you will portray a role way different than the person sitting beside you in a casting office. That’s the beauty of this industry. Bringing your own authenticity to a character; it makes it real. Now, I was not like this at the beginning. It took a lot of soul searching and failing before I found who Eric truly was. Then I was able to dive into other characters authentically. It’s a beautiful process and once you learn how you will start loving the craft more and more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have to say I would for sure take them to a sporting event. If it’s summer time then we are hitting up a Red’s game, no questions asked. If it’s fall, then we would probably try and go see a Bengal’s game or an Ohio State game. If it’s winter or spring, forget it we are doing something in doors because Ohio weather is too unpredictable during this time. One thing we would have to do is go to Skyline Chili because it is a Cincinnati Ohio staple.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person I have to shout out is my mom. Her constant love and support of my dream has allowed me to pursue it. She always listens to me about the industry and she always says, “You’re going to get where you want to be. I know you will.” Sometimes I think she has more faith in my dream than I have. The second person I have to shout out is my amazing mentor Debbie Starkman. I wouldn’t be the actor I am today without her guidance and training. Her and her whole family literally took me under their wing and has been guiding me in positive directions for the past three years. I can’t thank them enough for the kindness and generosity of knowledge and skill that they have within the entertainment industry.
