Meet Erin Jantzen | Interior and Event Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Jantzen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
My Companies: Collective Charm Rentals & Intertwine Design
I run two small businesses: Collective Charm Rentals, an event design and rental studio, and Intertwine Design, an interior design and staging studio.
As a co-owner of not just one but two small businesses, I often find myself asking, “Should I dive in deeper, or is it time to give up?”
Thankfully, life has a way of sending me signs and reminders that I’m on the right path and should keep moving forward. Like any small business owner, I experience the ebbs and flows of business. However, it’s in the quieter moments that I find reassurance I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
I might be sitting and wondering when my next project will come when my little brother calls, asking if I’d like to design the interiors of a nail salon in Miami. Or I’ll be on a walk with my dog and run into a neighbor searching for an interior designer for his million-dollar new construction just a few houses down. Or I’ll be admiring murals downtown, joking about how I’d love a mural myself, and later that day, a muralist calls to rent one of my furnished apartments—for him and his muralist girlfriend. You can’t make this stuff up!
After a day of moving heavy furniture to stage a home or install a pop-up wedding ceremony, my heart feels full—despite the fleeting thoughts like, “Am I just a glorified mover with really pretty things?” or “Is this why my mom signed me up for gymnastics? So I could move heavy $h!t?”
Yet, I know I’m in the right place because I find so much joy, even amid the physical labor and to-do lists with no ends. I have a warehouse full of incredible vintage treasures, and I get to do this work alongside my mom. How lucky are we to be known as “The Furniture Girls”.
When I ask for a sign, the universe answers: A house I staged sells in a day, or a new tenant calls looking for housing. The answers we seek are often right there, in our mindset. As Mel Robbins says, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t—you’re right.”
So why not choose to believe and invest in yourself? If you spend too much time sulking during slower growth seasons, you might miss the opportunities right in front of you. Surround yourself with good people, outsource tasks when needed, and don’t forget to have fun along the way.
What should our readers know about your business?
Out of a passion for creating beautiful spaces, Collective Charm Rentals and Intertwine Design were born.
Collective Charm Rentals is an event design and boutique rental studio specializing in creating unforgettable guest experiences. We offer a curated collection of vintage and modern furnishings, décor, and props to elevate events of all kinds—from weddings and showers to styled photo shoots.
Intertwine Design is an interior design and staging studio dedicated to crafting interiors that inspire and captivate. We work with homeowners, builders, and investors to design high-end spaces, from new constructions to staged homes ready for market. We also specialize in designing, furnishing, and managing short and mid-term rentals.
While these businesses serve distinct purposes, they share a common goal: to intertwine aesthetics and function, creating authentic highly personal spaces that bring people together. At the end of the day, I’m the furniture girl, here for any and all furnishing needs. Whether that be using my vintage settee for your best friend to open her weddings gifts, staging a home to sell tomorrow, or sourcing the sofa where you’ll cuddle up with your family for the next decade.
One of our super powers is our ability to stretch a budget. We can accommodate nearly any budget and scope of work. Our goal is to make interior design accessible. The truth is, you can’t afford NOT to hire an interior designer. We will save you money on furnishings and selections with our vendor discounts and will give you designs and furnishings that will stand the test of time. We also offer a “home refresh” where we re-imagine your space using your furniture, adding new accessories, developing a cohesive color palette, style and layout!
One thing we’ve learned along the way is to outsource in your weaker areas. God made me a super strong five foot two inches but he did not make me good at administrative computer tasks. Give me four hours to assemble and move an entire house of furnishings, sure. Make me post on social media about all the incredible work I’m doing, no thanks! Do I wish I were skilled and motivated in the marketing department, absolutely, but I am just not. Thankfully, there are tons of people out there who are!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting from out of town I’d insist that they stay at my 1800’s Carriage House apartment which functions as an Airbnb in Hamilton Ohio. I’d take them for a walk through Downtown Hamilton along the Great Miami River to explore all the shops and Victorian homes off High and Main Street. We’d make stops at Valley Thrift Store and the Ohio Valley Antique Mall, hauling our purchases back to my house on Prospect Hill. I’d order endless pasta from Nicola’a to eat on my roof desk while enjoying the views of Cincinnati over a glass of wine. My sweet partner Erik would bring us Elena’s blueberry pie ice cream from Greaters as a night cap.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother and business partner – Stacey Jantzen Bradford
Allyson West for trusting Collective Charm Rentals to install lounges and displays for the Cindepdent Film Festival
Tiffany Gingrich for helping to support my growth oriented mindset with her mentorship and transformational workshops.
My community of clients who continue to turn to my mother and I for help with interior and Event design. Thank you for choosing us!
