We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially, I started my career off rapping and all I wanted to do was rap and record my songs. I was offered some studio equipment from a family member for a low price and took a chance on that investment just to be able to save money and record myself instead of going to other studios. That turned into me becoming more involved with engineering and producing music that I quickly fell in love with that process. From there, I was offered $15 to record a song for someone else because they heard about me recording myself and liked the quality. From there, it clicked for me to turn it into a business. I figured hey if I do this a few times a week i won’t need to work for no one else

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m in the music business. It’s challenging. It’s cut throat. It’s not for the weak. I have been at this music thing for my entire life, 33 years to be exact. I stared rapping at the age of 6 and I’m still hustling and grinding at the age of 33. What sets me and my business apart from others is grit. No matter what obstacles came my way I am able to see the bigger picture and get through it. A lot of people u grew up with in the same industry has given up or didn’t take it as serious. This game is about not stopping. Literally that is the game. You never know when your big break is going to come and I want to be here for that. I didn’t work this hard just to work this hard lol. I am most proud of still being in business. Especially when life changing events happens such as Covid and to still be operating is nothing but God and a great reason to be excited for. Accomplishments, awards and working with celebrity artist are fun too but that only last for a moment. Being able to look at your career and business and notice you are still operating when there were multi million dollar companies that had to shut down not too long ago is mind boggling. Staying focus and keeping faith in God has been the key to my success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Friday Gold Star Chilli

Saturday
Kings Island, Hit the Banks & OTR and for sure take them to Black Owned / Coffee
Timeless Recording Studio (Of course lol)

Sunday
Church (Light of The World) to be specific
Paycor Stadium to watch The Bengals

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first shoutout has to be to God. Without him, nothing else is possible nor matters. There are far too many books, organizations, mentors and groups to name which have definitely made a impact to my career, but I would rather sum it all up to GOD.
