Meet Gabby Lovelace | Hair Stylist + Bridal Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabby Lovelace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabby, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My quote comes from my all time favorite movie; A Cinderella Story. The quote is ‘Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.’ My favorite bible verse is Ecclesiastes 11:4. I think in every aspect of life, relationally, business and personal, these quotes resonate deeply-and for all different reasons. I have circled back to these many times when fear or anxiety were dictating my decisions. They are both empowering words to think upon. In my daily life it’s easy to allow worry or what-ifs to creep in. I am encouraged by both writings for the simple fact that they are life-speaking passages and are a simple reminder to do things even if they scare you. Some of the best things that I have done, I have done scared. If we never do the things we set out to do, simply because of failure, we will never see how beautiful and fulfilling our goals can truly be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think art is so subjective. In my world of business, I create art in the form of hair. My specialties are blonding, lived in color and bridal. Along with God, my dedication to being true to myself has taken me such a long way in where I am professionally. I take my character very seriously. My clients are a huge part of my success-without them I wouldn’t be able to share any of this. The trust they have in me to sit down and say ‘do whatever you want’ speaks volumes. I truly value the relational aspect of this job. I have built bonds with families during the early stages of their lives and have been able to walk out some momentous times with them. From styling hair for school dances, senior pictures, then their wedding. I do not take that honor lightly. It makes me feel so proud that people think enough of me to include me in such special times. I’ve learned so much about myself through the 6 years I have been doing this. I am very proud of the work that I put out into the world. My clients’ are my walking billboards and I am so thankful for everyone who has ever sat in my chair, and given me the chance to make them feel beautiful. One of the best lessons with this job is that, I am not for everyone (& THATS OKAY!!) That is a lot to swallow for an anxious-people pleaser. I can only show up, do the absolute best I can and hope to build relationships. I just want everyone who sits in my chair to know that I always put so much thought and care into your hair. I truly want everyone to feel like my chair is a safe space, and to truly love what they see in the mirror. Enhancing the beauty of people and seeing smiles is truly fulfilling.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has always been a yes-man when it comes to supporting my dreams. My parents and sister have always been guinea pigs and have shown so much love and support. My daughter helped me make my decision to start this business venture so I could create the perfect mom/stylist balance. I wouldn’t be as far as I am today without them, and their guidance.
