We had the good fortune of connecting with Gage Layne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gage, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue an artistic and creative career due to the fact that since I was a child I’ve always felt more connected to to my inner self than the exterior world I experienced. My journey has led to me understanding myself and coincidentally the world around me over time, through mistakes and new experiences. I chose this life Because it felt natural and spiritual. And it absolutely is.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is what I feel and how I feel is determined on the expressive course I choose to explore. As much as my ego would love of me to set myself apart from anyone or everyone. It feels wrong to. We’re all connected and have the inner voice and are all directed by external energies that can be observed and absorbed. We all got our steps to the peak of the mountain. My Art is all owned by me and are assets to my LLC, You can leave your body INC. AKA YCLYB. I am where I am because I took risks and stepped out of my comfort zone with confidence. The difficulty is all subjective and intentional. I chose to believe it comes naturally but there are always more doors to open after the first one. I’ve learned through all of this to give myself time, space, and patience to become who I need to be. There is no wrong decision. Only happy accidents. I’d like the world to know that YCLYB is a state of mind and to think more intuitively and deeper. Find meaning in the little things and stuff that seems to coincidental to make sense. Work hard and vigorously but play even harder and youthful. Be happy. Things will fall into place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A good “vaycation” in columbus, Ohio for my people would look like crashing at my crib, making art together, going to halfbaked brew in the shortnorth for a good time and local brewed drinks. Then going over to press grill for some amazing cheese burgers. Then walking right back to halfbaked until the nights over. On repeat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be who I am today without my nrother seth and my sister in law, tina, yalan, 48 crew, ninewaysout fam, oldskool skateshop, Mr.lynch, Bob, Jonny, newface, Owen, Riley, Sam, chow and so many others. I appreciate everyone in my life and in my past as well as future. As well as my lover and life partner Catherine.
