We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Schenk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to control my own destiny. Be able to do what I want where I want with whom I want when I want.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is very high risk high reward one of the most stressful businesses in the world. You can literally work on something from two years 100+ hours and walk away with nothing. We’ve represent office tenants on the real estate facilities leases owned and build a suit properties a lot of things can happen out of your control interest rate changes. The president gets fired. The business goes bad. You just never know when it’s gonna happen. The key is forming good relationships forming a bond and trust and being a master of the market master of the process which we’ve worked on for now 38 years.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I live in Columbus and I spend the winter in South Beach. I would bring them down to South Beach and take a bike ride along the 8 1/2 mile bike path along the ocean and then then I would jump on a catamaran ride and take an afternoon out in the bay and then go out for a great dinner and want to South Beach as many fine restaurants at home in Columbus. I would take them to an Ohio State football game, proceeded by a walk in one of our beautiful parks or an afternoon at the golf course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course, both my parents my father, who was a legend with John Hancock recently passed away, taught me about respect and treating everyone from the janitor to the president of the company the same to my mom who believed in me and inspired me and gave me a lot of motivational books when I was doubting myself in my younger career
Finally to my brother Jeff that passed away at age 15 from cancer. I always said I do enough for two in life and never did accomplish that but I always wanted to make him proud.
