Meet Hannah Britton | Owner, Monarch Bloom Flowers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Britton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been a person who beats to my own drum. Although I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in human resources management, I knew that I had a desire to go beyond a corporate career. I knew that by owning by own business I was in turning taking control of my path. I also wanted to have the freedom to express myself creatively, without rigid restrictions and corporate red tape. I never thought it was going to be an easier path, but I always knew it would be a fulfilling one.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Monarch Bloom Flowers is a creative based service specializing in floral design, event planning, consulting and management and wholesale supply sales. I started off in the broader event space but saw an opportunity to provide more extravagant and specialized bouquet and floral arrangement services within Columbus, OH, so I decided to narrow in. It was not an easy path, while starting my business I maintained a full-time job for over two years. I spent a majority of my free time and income on developing my business. Over time, I gained the trust of hundreds of customer, but I will never forget my first 8 customers on Valentine”s Day of 2022. The biggest lesson that I learned was that consistency paired with talent is the recipe for success. You have to show up everyday, when there are 0 customer and when there are 500. The reputation that I seek for Monarch Bloom Flowers to have out in the world is a brand that spreads joy through beautiful creations. I truly feel my happiest when I am creating and I hope that joy radiates through each of my creations.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In my two years as a Columbus resident, I have grown to love hanging out in Bridge Park Dublin, Easton, specifically Ocean Club and of course, the Short North. I am a huge fan of The Pearl, in both the Short North and Dublin. I 10/10 recommend the Short Rib. For a great drink, I would visit Mark and Angie at Ocean Club in Easton. Their friendly nature and ability to create their own craft cocktail is unmatched.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My partner, Manny, has been instrumental in teaching me the ropes and how to navigate owning my own business. He is a highly successful business owner, who has been in the game for over 10 years, before the age of 30. Without his constant encouragement, investment and dedication to my success, Monarch Bloom Flowers would look different today.
