Meet Jacob Maher | Photographer, Videographer, Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Maher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
1. My Balance has really been about balancing school life and also work life. I currently am a junior business major at Miami University in Ohio and I’m also touring in traveling with various artist such a Sean Kingston so balancing school classes, and leaving to meet with clients or travel for days or weeks at a time Is quite challenging, but worth it. Another aspect of balance that I find as a creative is that people like us need downtime in need time where we are not doing anything to let our mind defree sometimes you just need to take a day or a few days off of shooting or creating something to really let your head reset and get back in the creative mode that you need to be in.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
i’ve learned that being patient is key to a lot of success. It’s important to always set your goals and do what you need to achieve them, but sometimes taking the back road or taking a different route than what you first thought was your plan is more beneficial in the long run, for years, I dreamed of touring with any artist, big or small I had so many times in high school where my parents told me no or that I was too young to be traveling without guidance. Then again, I was only 14 or 15 years old so looking back as a 20 year old, I do agree with them now ha ha as I’ve grown older and have matured more I had the opportunity to finally go on tour with Sean Kingston all around the United States this past summer as a creative Director so just keep in mind that sometimes dreams or plans that you have years ago will still happen just because they haven’t happened yet doesn’t mean they’re not going to happen you might be right there. You might be very close to that exact goal you dreamed of inches away so if you give up now you’ve lost it keep going because everyone is closer to their dream and they actually think.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Cleveland so I’m going up here my entire life. The first food spot I could think of downtown would be the market in Ohio city. It’s got all sorts of homemade foods drinks desserts. Anything you can think of and the quality is so good because it’s all authentic whenever my friends come visit out of town. I always like to take them to all the clothing and thrift spots, secret places, and stuff to go shopping, such as misfits exchange in Coventry, there’s a lot of great restaurants down in the flats or you could go 2030 minutes outside the city to chagrin Falls area where there’s a lot of good Italian restaurants my favorite places I’m Italian in my hometown of chagrin Falls you of course have to take them to a Browns game or a tribe game because that’s what makes Cleveland Cleveland fourth Street is a coirse a good place to go out at night with family because of all the restaurants good barbecue and live music
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Its a clumination of everything that has been apart of my upbringing since the start. All the teachers, my parents, teams, friends, family that have shaped me into the person I am are all a part of my success. In the city of Cleveland specifically there are a number of creatives and like minded individuals that have taught me the ins and outs of the industry and what being a creative really means.
