Meet Jamie Seabolt | Esthetician and CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Seabolt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew I would be an entrepreneur before I even knew what it was. My mom will tell you that at an early age, my sister, cousin, and I would take an old school 1970’s style Barbie “A” Frame Doll House and split it into 3 sections. My sister would play with one, my cousin would play with another, and I would take the middle section and run the Barbie store, selling Barbie clothing and accessories with the help of Monopoly play money. Then, as I grew into my teens, I was gifted a black briefcase. With that, I would buy the Lifesaver “Creamsaver” lollipops for 10 cents and resell them in the neighborhood out of that briefcase for a quarter. So as you can imagine, once I entered into adulthood, I very much followed the mantra of “See a need, fill a need” and that’s what I have done.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I believe that there is Kindness in Beauty… and my beauty business is built around that. We constantly give back to our community when often times our direct competitors do not. Without our neighbors, we wouldn’t be here… so we support those neighbors when they need a lift, a sponsorship, or even just a smile to keep going. Beauty should be fun and cheerful and my team and I ensure that is delivered to all that step into our Modern Apothecary & Spa.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, the #perfectpomeroyday would involve a lot of fellow merchants around us to create what is #courtstreetcool. Carissa my colleague would tell you she always start’s her day at River Roasters on the corner with a cold brew and breakfast snack. Then you make your way up Court Street to meet Heather at Appalachian Gypsy for something fun and whimsical. Of course, you can’t forget our neighbor Susan, who has had Clark’s Jewelry Store for 43 years with such a large selection it would make the big jewelry store’s weep. Finally, once the work day is done, head over to Jackie at Court Street Grill where you can order a cold one from Paula and a Cauliflower Crust Pizza to end the day. If it’s a beautiful day, we take it to our Courtyard and experience live Jazz and Blues at O’Brien Park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Two people really stand out. My mother, Debbie, has always been a personal cheerleader of mine. Whenever I would fall, she would help me up as I would dust off the dirt to keep on moving. I also need to thank my partner Brian… for believing in me to build back my business after the pandemic tour me down.
