Meet Janina Souders | Graphic Designer & Marketing Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janina Souders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janina, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
A book that has had an impact on me is The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon. It is a motivational book where the main focus is to teach one to create positive energy, in both work and life. In the book, you read about a fictional character, George, who struggles with various challenges at work and at home. Throughout various stages in the book, you are presented with 10 rules to help one harness positive energy and make changes in your life.
One rule that stood out to me is rule #1: You are the driver, meaning you are in control of your own life. I read this book during a time in my life when I felt like I had no control, and it helped me to realize that and take steps to take back control in my life. I learned that sometimes you have to be put through adversity in order to realize you have to make a change. I stepped out of my comfort zone and took a chance, which has been one of the best decisions of my life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was always artistic growing up, and enjoyed relaying a message through design and artwork. I love being able to create something that will have an impact – whether that is an impact on a person, or an impact on our business by bringing in customers.
I like to make use of light and shadows, creating a dynamic look to the designs I create. I get excited when I see a really cool reflection casted on the wall or floor that I can use to create a backdrop for my photographs.
One lesson that I have learned over the years is that everything – art, marketing strategies, products, etc. – is ever changing. There is no one way to do things, and I like that I can change and grow with my ideas and designs.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in the area is Eden Park. Eden Park is home to the Cincinnati Art Museum and Krohn Conservatory. It also has a beautiful scenic view of the Ohio River and Mirror Lake. It also holds a special place in my heart because it is where I got engaged.
Favorite restaurants: Ando Japanese Restaurant in Blue Ash, Nada in downtown Cincinnati, and Agave & Rye in Rookwood.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my husband, David Souders II. He has supported me through the good times, and the not so good times. He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I have been able to grow because of that support and find a career doing something that I love and enjoy, while also being there for my two daughters. My family is my support system and I will be forever grateful for that.
