Hi Jasmine & Javier, what do you want people to remember about you?
What we want our legacy to be is a reflection of our family’s enduring commitment to quality, affordability, and the power of the dining table to bring people together. Cusina Maya Cookware is more than just a business for us; it’s a testament to the values and traditions that have been passed down through generations.

We want people to remember us as the bridge that connected Latin culinary traditions with American households, offering high-quality, yet affordable cookware that enhances the cooking experience. When someone holds our 10.5-inch frying pan or uses our Comal, we want them to experience that ‘WOW!’ moment you mentioned – the surprise of how light and efficient our cookware is.

Our lightweight cookware not only revolutionizes the cooking experience but also serves a broader purpose. It aids the elderly and individuals with disabilities, aligning perfectly with our values of inclusivity and community building. We’re excited to partner with organizations like the National MS Society and the Aging & Disabilities Resource Center to extend this impact.

Ultimately, we want our legacy to encompass more than just products. It’s about forging lasting relationships and preserving the rich heritage of our family’s traditions. We’re immensely proud to have brought Cusina Maya Cookware to the United States last year, creating job opportunities and continuing the legacy of our family in Guatemala.

As we expand our reach online and into niche grocery stores, we hope to touch the lives of more Americans, bringing them a taste of Latin culture and heritage through our cookware. Our dream is to see Cusina Maya Cookware in every American home, a symbol of quality, tradition, and the joy of shared meals. Absolutely, we’re thrilled to tell you more about Cusina Maya Cookware and what sets us apart. We see ourselves as disruptors in the cookware industry, and the pandemic presented us with a unique opportunity. With more people cooking at home, we’ve been able to offer a high-quality, affordable product that makes home cooking more enjoyable and accessible. What truly sets us apart is the innovative approach we’ve taken to address a common industry myth: the misconception that lightweight means cheap. In our case, lightweight is a result of smart engineering, without compromising on quality. As more people discover our cookware, they’re consistently amazed at how well it performs, proving that lightweight can indeed be top-notch.

Now, getting to where we are today hasn’t been without its challenges. Like any startup, we faced the typical hurdles, from securing financing to navigating shipping logistics during a pandemic. However, what we’ve learned along the way is that the challenges and the weight of tasks are what make the journey so rewarding. We’re proud to say that we’ve not only built one but two successful businesses in just a few years. The dedication and determination it takes to overcome these obstacles have been invaluable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many wonderful things to do in the area! Since we are in the midst of fall, I would be focusing on all pumpkin related activities! Taking a drive through the country to experience the vibrant changing fall foliage, apple picking at Eddy’s fruit farm in Chesterland and grabbing donuts at Patterson’s fruit farm. Taking a trip to the west side and hitting up the West Side Market for all the delicious local food and going to one of our amazing restaurants (or a few!).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to recognize the support and help of so many but specifically of our Score Mentor, Chris Patterson. Chris has been with us on the journey from before we began as we were just starting to create the idea of Cusina Maya. He has pushed and challenged us, guided us and given so much encouragement! We are thankful for the relationship and support we have received!
