We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Perseverance, discipline, and passion. When seeking to accomplish a goal that requires a lot of time and energy, there is always the possibility of giving up. However, persisting through those challenging moments is a big part of attaining success.

Discipline is also needed in that opportunities to compromise, become lazy, or succomb to indifference may abound. Rejecting those reactions while embracing a life of consistent determination can lead to a structured approach to achieving success.

Lastly, having passion for what I do makes a big difference. Teaching, writing, and counseling are all things I thoroughly enjoy, so money is not the only motivation. My passion to help others through these mediums is a significant reason why I believe I have become successful with these endeavors.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently teach both full-time and part-time at two local colleges, recently published a book entitled Divine Frustrations, and work as a mental health counselor. Getting to where I am was not easy, as I worked full-time through my college years. Also, there is a lot of competition when it comes to teaching in higher education. Yet, I learned that perseverance, hard work, and consistency can pay off.

My word of encouragemet for anyone who desires to pursue a long-term goal is to persist through the challenges, find a way to remain dedicated, and take care of yourself along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Cleveland has a lot to offer, so I would take my friend to several outdoor establishments first. These include the Metroparks, miniature golf courses, and maybe Fun & Stuff. We could visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well.

We could also enjoy indoor fun at a bowling alley, maybe the I-X Center, and eat at some local vegan restaurants.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my mom, for supporting my self-discovery journey. When I graduated from high school, she gave me a check for $1,999 (the year I graduated) and encouraged me to pursue whatever path I wanted. That approach allowed me to figure out life as an adult with authenticity and without parental pressure.
