Meet Jemannie Severson Luong | Owner, Picnic Party Cincinnati

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jemannie Severson Luong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jemannie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
There is a lot of thought that goes into preparing a picnic! From the color scheme to the weather, picnic planners have to prepare as much in advance as possible. More importantly, we have to be transparent with our guests so that they can be prepared as well. For example, sunset is much earlier during the colder seasons. That means the latest a picnic can begin outdoors is 5:30pm. That will give enough time for set up and tear down before it gets dark. Additionally, if the weather is below 60 degrees, I generally make guests aware of the cold and see if an indoor picnic is an option. The goal is for the picnic planner to think of all the little things that go into a smooth picnic experience so that guests can relax and have a good time!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Picnic Party Cincinnati started off as a random dream. I never had any inkling that it would grow into the success it is today. I’ve made mistakes along the way, but overall, I am proud of my perseverance and dedication to picnics. I’ve learned that picnics cannot just be thrown together, but take time to plan out. I’ve learned that organization and cleanliness is key. And most importantly, I learned that Picnic Party Cincinnati is about creating moments and memories. We have to do our best to make each event special. I’m very excited for our future growth!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Cincinnati is full of so many fun things to do! If I had a friend visiting the city, I would definitely have to recommend Music Hall and Washington Park, Factory 52, and of course, our many wonderful parks! The view from Devou Park over the river is our favorite!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Picnic Party Cincinnati would not be successful without the immense support from my family and friends. Thank you to those who have booked a picnic and/or shared our posts on social media. Thank you to my mother and aunt for childcare. And of course, thank you to my husband who supports me through chaotic work schedule, Tetris car loading, and random, last minute favors. I couldn’t do picnics without you. Picnic Party Cincinnati is dedicated to my daughter, Amalína.
