Meet Jhede Hampton | Author & Surgery Center Front Office Administrator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jhede Hampton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jhede, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business in the beginning was more so of the “I hate working a 9-5” kind of mindset. However, my mindset since the first thought of wanting to start my own business has since changed. Now, it’s more about wanting to help people. Not necessarily in the physical form only, but more so mentally. I am writing a book, an autobiography because I truly feel that I have a great story to share with the world and I’ve overcome a lot of obstacles that I know can help the next person or group of people that may be going through some of the same things that I have. My mentality has always been, “if I can help someone, I will” and if I can help people and love what I do all at once, that’s all the more reason to start my own business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an artist, but not the kind that paints or creates beautiful wall pieces to hang up. I’m more of a creative when it comes to my writing. Writing is an art and certainly a skill worth taking the time to learn. I’ve always loved writing since I was a child. Whenever I learned how to make full sentences is when I began to love writing. I’ve also always been an over the top writer, meaning I could never answer a question with just one sentence. I like a lot of detail and descriptions as I am a visual learner, so I like to have a lot of details and descriptions when I’m writing. I want others to be able to imagine what I am describing in my writing so that they can get the full feel of what I’m speaking on. That’s how I choose my reads. I love to read so it’s pretty natural that I love writing too. I am very excited about getting my book out into the world once it’s finished. It’s also very scary for me because I’ve always been pretty private and now I am opening up the door and letting the world in on my life. It’s not easy at all going from being so shy growing up to now allowing so many people in on so many intimate and private details of my life but my goal is to reach someone and show them how they too can overcome any obstacle life throws your way with hard work, dedication, and serious self control, but it starts with your mindset. Having the right mindset was something that I really had to grasp in order to really focus on my business and my life in general. I’ve learned that procrastination gets you nowhere fast & you cannot change your mindset by just thinking about it. Do it! We are our own biggest critics and downfalls. We fail at the staring line because we let fear or procrastination take over before we even start the race. My book writing is not about money or the profits, it’s about speaking to the people who have gone through so much in life and want/wanted to give up. I’m here to say that it gets better but nothing worth having is easy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmm, there’s honestly a lot of great spots in the city and surrounding cities as well. Depending on what kind of mood I may be in, there a ton of places to go! If I had a friend visiting from out of town, this would be our itinerary : for Brunch options we have The Cleveland Breakfast Club, Yours Truly, and so many more! Great spots for dinner like the Bourbon Street Barrel Room, Filter, Bonefish Grill, etc. If we want to just go grab a quick smoothie after a workout I’d recommend Robeks. For daily outdoor activities we could go to Cleveland metro parks, or for something a little more like town center outdoor shopping, we have Pinecrest which is always fun and there’s lots do including going to dinner or lunch and a movie, or even bowling. For a great night out on the town we could visit downtown in the flats and bar hop, or go to a speak easy if we want a more chill vibe out kind of night, or even go to the Cleveland Improv for a good comedy show! For a fun adrenaline rush filled kind of day, there’s no other place like Cedar Pointe! There are tons of things to do for fun in the city, and lots of wonderful places to visit and eat!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Although success ultimately comes down to the person striving to meet their goals, but for me none of my success would have been possible or at one point even a thought without a lot of people in my life. I’ve gotten help and advice from so many wonderful people in life who I know and some that I don’t. To name a few because I would not be able to get everyone’s name in here lol, I would like to give a huge shout out to my daily support system: Darian, Michelle Stitt & the entire family, my younger siblings- Palace, Pierre, and Paris, my closest friends- Ysian, Ayanna, Arnelle, Shar, Walt & so many others throughout my years of growing up who have positively impacted my life, or saved me from going down the wrong paths. Last at certainly not least, I want to thank God, because without God I would not even be here today and I am eternally grateful for the grace God has shown me and the strength He’s given me to go forth and prosper. Thank you!
