We had the good fortune of connecting with Kara Clark And Candice Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kara Clark and Candice Ross, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Purple Hearts Home Health was founded on a simple principle: to provide exceptional home health care with a personal touch. As an experienced caregiver, I’ve always been driven to help others. By breaking free from corporate constraints, we’re able to offer flexible, customized care plans that truly meet the needs of our clients. Our dedicated team is committed to delivering compassionate, professional service, fostering a sense of trust and well-being in every interaction.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Since 2020, Purple Hearts Home Health has been a beacon of care in the Columbus area and surrounding counties. We provide essential non-medical services to individuals who need assistance with daily living, empowering them to age in place with dignity. While the journey of building a home health agency has its ups and downs, our unwavering commitment to our clients drives us forward. We’re continually exploring innovative ways to expand our services, including vitamin fusions, doula services, and post-surgical recovery care. As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re excited to shape the future of home health care and make a lasting impact on our community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Columbus is full of fun places to go! A week long trip with friends, I would plan for us to go to an Ohio State game, if in season, a few games of golf at Top Golf and we would have to go to as many Cameron Mitchell restaurants as we possible could!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people along the way that have helped Candice, and I bring our vision to light. Over the years, we have had many coaches and mentors help us realize we are capable of being the businesswomen we’ve aspired to be. For me (Kara) Dalila Conaway was the very first person who made me believe I was capable of business ownership. I came across her on social media giving positive words to anyone tuned in to her live stream. I signed up to have a private call with her and the very first thing she said to me changed my thought process forever. She said, “what do you want to be?” and I responded with so much fear and uncertainty! I said, “Well, I’ve always wanted to own my own home health agency.” The next thing she said shifted my mind in the most powerful way. She said, “Then that’s what you have! You are a business owner who owns her own home health business!” Now that may sound so simple to someone else but for me, it gave me the courage to step into my truth and be just that, a business owner! Since then, I have learned how much I truly am an Entrepeneur, and the sky is truly the limit for what I can accomplish.

For Candice, her aunt Jameela Thomas was a major support system and motivator for her! Candice has been working with Jameela, who too owns an agency that helps people with developmental disabilities for over 15 years. Jameela helped shaped Candice into a powerhouse of a businesswoman! She taught her the business inside and out and gave her, her blessing to join me in business. Jameela has also allowed me to join her business and the three of us have created an amazing bond and she has been very supportive of us over this last year. We are extremely blessed to have her, and we pay homage to her and Dalila for their amazing spirits and blessings they have been to us!
