Meet Katelyn Luxenburg | Salon owner of Wylde

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katelyn Luxenburg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katelyn, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
In the past three years, I invested in remodeling different salon locations three times. Each remodel was a calculated risk, focused on elevating the client experience and staying ahead of industry trends. While each renovation meant stepping outside my comfort zone financially and creatively, these bold moves helped me expand my client base, increase revenue, and build a stronger brand. I learned that taking risks even when they feel scary is necessary to stand out in a competitive industry. These experiences proved to me that growth comes from being willing to invest in change.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After spending a few years in California, I fell in love with the aesthetic, the vibe, and the effortlessly elevated style of salons on the West Coast. It felt authentic to who I am, and it inspired the vision behind my own salon brand. When I returned to Ohio, I realized there was nothing quite like that here and that’s what motivated me to bring a piece of that California inspiration home. I wanted to create a salon that reflects my style and offers clients a unique, modern, and welcoming experience unlike anything else in the area.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A weekend with my best friend would be the perfect mix of cozy, fun, and spontaneous. We’d start our day by grabbing coffee at a cute little coffee shop, someplace with warm vibes, great pastries, and plenty of time to catch up over lattes. After that, we’d head to a local farmers market to stroll through the stalls, sampling fresh produce and maybe picking up some flowers or handmade treats. Once we’re done browsing, we’d set out to find the best thrifting spots around town, hunting for unique vintage finds and hidden gems. To wrap up the day, we’d grab dinner and drinks at a fun spot, someplace with good music, tasty food, and cocktails!

I want to take a moment to acknowledge that I wouldn’t have built this salon and achieved this level of success without the people who stood by me. To my incredible family, thank you for supporting my dreams, encouraging me to take risks, and reminding me what’s possible. To my amazing boyfriend, thank you for believing in me and holding me up through the hard days. And to my loyal clients, you are the heart of this business.
