Meet Katherine Wright | Entrepreneur, Entertainer and Musical Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, I’ve always loved the idea of owning my own business, specifically a store. Even as child I use to play store with my little sisters. Growing up, my grandmother was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses as well as a clothing store. I got a lot of my business inspiration from her. When I finally sat down to come up with a business idea, I thought about how uber revolutionized the transportation industry and thought, well maybe I could do the same thing with clothing. With that in mind, I came up with the idea of a boutique that delivers the same day in the city. Customers could order their clothing from us and have it within the hour if they were in the city. Furthermore, I have also worked in the entertainment industry for the past 7 years, and I wanted to create a place where business meets entertainment. I wanted to add a component to my business that incorporated business and entertainment in a way that solved the problems that women in those fields often faced. For example, I have modeled for many years. It was always a pain to have to go to three or more different places for hair, makeup, an outfit and the actual photoshoot. The same for headshots. I wanted a place that was a one stop shop for women in those industries, where they could get everything, they needed in one location. From that thought process, I created Envy’s!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am also a musical artist, entertainer and model. I started entertaining when I was 21 as a model and dancer. I started off doing local photoshoots and eventually made my way to working with celebrities on promotional venues and music videos. I became a pretty popular vixen in 2018, which allowed the opportunity to start my own business. I later rebranded myself as Rarri Red in 2021.
I absolutely love being a business owner. It has definitely been challenging, especially with the current economy. I have had to shut down two of my businesses and temporarily close another to go back to the drawing board. Envy’s is temporarily closed for expansion. I’m going to re-open bigger and better, and I am so excited for that!
I have always wanted to do music, but was always too afraid to let the world hear my voice from fear of judgement. I started my music career September 8th, 2023 with my first single ‘Fly Ass Vibe’. It has been a very interesting journey so far. There’s so much that goes into building the foundation of an artist. I am lucky to have Qadada Lindsay, CEO of Quality Too Good Management (QTG) whom is also a good friend, as my manager. Together we started my career from scratch.
It has been a very challenging journey. Being consistent and staying positive is extremely hard sometimes, especially because I have bipolar disorder. There are those times where I don’t want to get out of bed at all, and sometimes I don’t, but I always try to stay productive even if I’m in bed. Having a clear goal and my two beautiful children as a reminder to grind hard and stay positive helps.
What sets me apart from others in these entertainment sectors is my unique view on women’s rights and peaceful ideologies. I am someone that believes that women can do it all. I have always been good at proving that a woman can be intelligent as well as be in tune with her sexual nature. For some reason, our society has so many people convinced that they are mutually exclusive. I am here to let people know that’s not the case. I was an exotic dancer, but I’ve also owned three businesses and will have a bachelor’s degree in business. I believe a woman can have it all if she wants to. And because she does, she will!
Being an entrepreneur and an artist is not easy. My professional life is very time consuming and expensive in these early stages. The only way to overcome these challenges is to continue the hustle! Today I have over 250 thousand fans and supporters, and every day that number continues to grow.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I wanted to show someone a good time, it would always start with an escape room. I absolutely love those. Then we would go out for something good to eat. I’m not too picky, so I would let them choose. On the weekend we would definitely go out dancing. I’ve always wanted to go to a pottery spinning class, so we’d have to check that out. I’m very much a homebody, so I’m in the house a lot, but at the same time I can be very spontaneous. I guess I’m like a box of chocolates. Either way, as long as there is a good vibe, I’m all in!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give the biggest shoutout to my mom, Kathryn, my sisters Alexus and Alexza, and my son’s father Nathaniel. They have supported with my business endeavors in so many ways and I am so grateful to have people like them that truly believe in everything I do. I also have to give a shout to my fans and supporters that are in my corner. They see me for me, and I love them so much. Without them, I wouldn’t have an audience, nor would I have gotten as far as I have. Thank you all!
