We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie & Ali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie & Ali, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We individually have always had aspirations of owning our own business but were never quite sure of what that looked like until we met. We both worked as Event Coordinators for a venue and instantly became friends bonding over our shared similar interests and outlooks on life. One afternoon, we went on a hike that led to a deep conversation about how it is easy to get bogged down by the weight of the world and how we want to focus on the positivity in our lives. In turn, we both wanted to create something that exemplifies that optimism and brings joy to others. She Dreams Events is more than just a picnic, it’s a space to create lasting memories with the ones you love.

What should our readers know about your business?
Pop up picnics have become a trendy, aesthetic way to celebrate various events across the nation but lack a presence in the Columbus, OH area. We are paving the way for experiences that are luxurious yet affordable and attainable for the average person. We pride ourselves in customizing to our clients and providing a personable experience that makes them feel seen and understood.
We’ve created strong relationships over the years in this industry and have received amazing advice from our peers and mentors. There are two lessons we think back to during moments of hardship and doubt. We were told to keep our eye on the end goal and to be flexible on the road to get there. This mindset has brought us so far on our journey and has given us the drive we need to keep pushing.
Another piece of advice we’ve received is the notion of ‘community over competition’. This industry can be full of comparisons and judgements, but we truly believe there is room for everyone. We are going to continue to uplift and encourage our peers just like our mentors have done for us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of our favorite places to walk around is Easton! If you’re looking for delicious food, head to Brio Italian Grille or Slurping Turtle. Then make your way over to The Funny Bone for some laughs, and finish your night out with some Brambleberry crisp from Jeni’s Ice Cream.

Another fun spot around town is German Village! Are you a book enthusiast? Head to the Book Loft and sip on some coffee from Stauf’s Coffee Roasters.

We also recommend the North market, COSI, and Budd Dairy Food Hall!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are so fortunate to have a supportive group of friends and family who continue to shower us with love and encouragement.

We owe a huge thank you and shout out to our friend and mentor, Danielle Browning, owner of Dashing Designs, LLC. She has been the biggest advocate for our business and professional support system as we continue to grow in the events industry.
