We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Browder – Person and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, how do you think about risk?
I think risk-taking is essential, but it shouldn’t be careless. Every risk I’ve taken in my career came with careful consideration and, most importantly, a backup plan. I approach risk like stepping out on a ledge—but I always make sure there’s a safety net in place. Having that plan gives me the confidence to take bold moves because I know how to recalibrate if things don’t go as expected.

Risk-taking has definitely opened up big opportunities for me. Some of the best moments in my career came from stepping outside of my comfort zone. But each time, I had a strategy to fall back on—so I could learn, adjust, and keep moving forward no matter what.

What should our readers know about your business?
At the heart of everything I do—whether it’s KatBro, GetKnown, GetPosted or any other business I run —is a belief in purpose-driven storytelling and strategy. Each of my businesses serves a unique role but shares a common mission: helping brands, organizations, and individuals communicate authentically and effectively.

KatBro specializes in event marketing and branding, primarily partnering with industries that positively impact communities—like non-profit healthcare systems, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and mission-driven organizations. We don’t just market events; we tell stories, build connections, and make sure our clients’ messages resonate with their audiences.

GetKnown focuses on helping individuals and businesses develop strong, recognizable brands through strategy, content, and creative execution. We give our GK members the clarity and confidence to show up consistently and authentically in the marketplace. Supporting that, GetPosted is our content management software designed to make content creation and social media management seamless and effective—giving clients an easy, organized way to execute their strategy and stay visible.

What sets us apart is our intentional approach. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions or surface-level marketing tactics. We’re strategic, thoughtful, and committed to delivering results that matter.

I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built with clients and the real change we’ve helped them drive. But getting here wasn’t easy. The journey has been filled with challenges, uncertainties, and big decisions. Risk-taking played a major role in my career, but I’ve never taken a risk without a backup plan. I see risks as necessary growth steps, but I always make sure there’s a strategy in place to pivot or regroup if things don’t go as expected.

Some of the most rewarding opportunities came from stepping outside my comfort zone, but what allowed me to keep moving forward was preparation, resilience, and surrounding myself with a solid team. The biggest lessons I’ve learned? Bet on yourself. Stay flexible. And never lose sight of why you started.

What do I want the world to know? That my brands aren’t just businesses—they’re platforms built to empower others, amplify meaningful stories, and create lasting impact.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Columbus for a week, I’d make sure they got to experience the best the city and surrounding areas have to offer—mixing in my local favorites, great eats, and a little adventure!

We’d start right here in Southwest Columbus (where I live). First stop: Eldorado Scioto Downs Casino & Racino. Afterward, we’d grab dinner right there—maybe hit The Brew Brothers inside for great food and live entertainment. Or the new Guy Fieri’s Trattoria resturant.

Next up, a relaxing day in Grandview. We’d start with coffee and some light shopping around the area, then treat ourselves to a proper afternoon high tea at Cambridge Tea House—literally one of my favorite spots for a quite afternoon.

We’d spend a full day exploring the Short North Arts District. We’d check out the local galleries, grab lunch at Brassica (because their Mediterranean bowls are amazing), shop around, and wrap up with dinner. Definitely a little bar-hopping and maybe some live music or drinks.

At some point, we’d drive about an hour out and hit the trails at Hocking Hills for a picnic along the way. This is great spot to just be with nature.

For the final day, we’d take it easy at North Market, pickup last-minute gifts. To end the trip, we’d make sure to grab a few scoops at Jeni’s Ice Creams—because no Columbus visit is complete without it.

At some point in the trip we’d probably go down to the MVP studios ( one of my partners) and record a podcast episode, I’d have to let me audience know my best bud was in town!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother. She has always been there to support me through all business opportunities and failures. When my back up plan doesn’t work. My mom usually swoops in the save the day. I do know I could not do this without that support.
