Meet Kerstyn Jacobs | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerstyn Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerstyn, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I have been doing photography for the past 4 years and over the last two years it has become my sole income! After having two babies over the last years, it has allowed me to stay home with my babies while still helping support our family. I have also been able to capture memories for my family and so many others along the way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my photography business in the middle of the shutdown. I was a bartender/waitress and the bar I worked at closed down so I was without an income and needed a way to pay for my Interior design schooling. While in school, I also learned a lot about photoshop so I decided to explore my camera a little more and practicing with family and friends while I had the time. Later that year my cousins were talking about how they couldn’t go see Santa because the mall was shut down due to Covid. So I decided to host a small photo event with Santa to allow kids that I knew to not miss out on the magic of Santa since they only get to enjoy that for so long. From there, I really found a passion for not just photography, but capturing memories for other families to enjoy for a lifetime. I have worked so hard to build a clientele that I thoroughly enjoy working with so that I could truly enjoy my job. Now 4 years later.. I’ve had many repeat clients and am now photographing events for schools and pageants that have been published in magazines. I can now say that I truly enjoy my job and at the same time.. I don’t have to miss out of precious moments with my babies at the same time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
FUN FACT: My lifelong best friend lives in Florida, so I can accurately answer this question!

My favorite place to eat in Cincinnati is the Precinct. Hands down.. the best steak I’ve ever had.

I love going to the library with my kids, or taking them on walks around town. I also love going to the boutiques around town or walking around the outlet malls! Target is also our go to place when we’re bored.. lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my family in helping support the growth of not only my photography business but my family as well. They have helped watch my kids whenever I need in order to go capture memories for other families. They have also helped advertise and help set up and run photography events whenever I needed it!
