We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle Shaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyle, why did you pursue a creative career?
To be honest it was either pursue one or I was going to miserable for the rest of my life. Before I became an artist I attempted to go to college for Business Management and quickly realized it wasn’t for me. I went to college because I felt socially obligated not because I was passionate about it and that made me crash and burn quite quickly. I tell people I quit but truth be told I failed out. You cannot have your head in the clouds and the books at the same time. I don’t believe you choose to be an artist I think being an artist chooses you, If you don’t act on your creative impulses they will haunt you for the rest of your life. Thats what being a true artist is.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve loved many things in my life but nothing compares to my love for the camera. It’s a toxic relationship if we are being honest but that is where all my art begins. I love doing larger projects such as movies or commercials and testing my ability to master my craft compared to colleagues. Then I also love shooting comedy skits and workout videos because then I get to control the content that is coming out. Having the ability to do both is something I can’t be thankful enough for. I have some upcoming creative shoots planned that I am extremely excited to knock out. I’ve learned over the course of doing a few dozen at this point, that it takes more than an outfit an a camera to take creative photos. It takes a plan and a vision. You need the correct location, props, and especially the correct mindset going in to capture the mood/feeling you’re looking for. I think this gets lost by some creative during their journey but me? I’m just starting to get it figured out. Overall, I cannot wait for what my future holds.. My brand is growing and I plan on continuing that throughout the remainder of this year into 2024. I hope you follow me on socials to be apart of my journey as I have a lot of great content planned along with plans to continue to grow my acting accreditations*******. But if you don’t follow me currently, don’t worry. We can excuse you for your tardiness. Please grab some popcorn and enjoy the upcoming show because I aim to please my current audience along with those who join along the way. The people are what drive me to do what I do. It is the blue collar, hard working, average Joes that support my content and helped me build my brand to what it is now. Is this job easy? Absolutely not. Do I enjoy what I do more that most people. 100%. I don’t think of myself as a role model. I know my place in this world is to provide moments of levity for your doctors, firemen, trash collectors, mailmen or anybody that keeps the world turning. That’s how I want people to remember me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had someone visiting the area, I’d tell them to come fair week in September. Every year we have our county fair that features a huge harness horse race called the “Little Brown Jug”. It’s like the Kentucky derby for the working man. You come with your cooler packed full of your favorite alcoholic beverage and a pair of sunglasses. Always make sure you bring water because it becomes essential later in the day. I promise that you will have the time of your life. If getting a good buzz going and gambling on ponies isn’t your forte, you can always enjoy some of the best fair food on this side of the Mississippi.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It all comes back to God. I could sit here and list a CVS receipt of excellent books, self motivating and pleasure, I’ve read and grown from. I could line up everyone that has helped me throughout my acting journey which would stretch around the block. But neither of these blessings are able to hold up to God. Had I not continued praying through all the highs and lows, I do not believe I would be in my current situation. I wish I had something more to say to that but it’s really that simple. No goal is unattainable when God is guiding you. All you need is to be willing to work hard and let faith drive you.
