Meet Kyrsta Morehouse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyrsta Morehouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyrsta, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been an artsy person! I went to a creative arts high school and was going to be an actress before I found makeup. Makeup changed my world and became my passion in Los Angeles doing beauty and fx for 13+ years and teaching makeup for 6+ years! Esthetics has been an exciting chance to stay in the creative beauty industry that I love, but be able to provide my clients with lasting results rather than just temporary makeup.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart in esthetics is my 13+ years of experience as a makeup artist. I came into esthetics with a basic understanding of skin, client relations, running a solo business, marketing etc so that was a really natural progression for me into this field. I think all big dreams take a lot of hard work and this has been no different. I have spent the last 9 months in night school 4 days a week – and that’s after working full-time during the day and having pets waiting for me to help take care of them at home! The exhaustion getting through school plus shadowing hours and internships was on another level I haven’t experienced before. But I am finally coming out the other side and so excited to put all this hard work into practice for my clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am still new here but have found so many incredible vintage and thrift stores in the area! We would definitely have to do a lot of shopping at places like The Bomb Shelter, get food from Swensons (my California people have never experienced a galley boy!), and maybe catch a show at Blossom!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can’t have an amazing platform like this to shout out a person who has supported me in getting here without taking the chance to thank my partner Freddie. I wouldn’t be here today without them – I mean that – thanks to their support, their pep talks when I was burnt out, and believing in me when I pitch them my big ideas. But even more so because they are the reason I am in Ohio at all! I made the move out here just over a year ago and am so excited to be starting this huge step with my esthetic career and feel so lucky and supported to have my partner by my side through it all!
