Meet LaLa Monroe | Hair Extension Specialist/Influencer & Brand Ambassador

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaLa Monroe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaLa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Due to my past experiences, being overworked underpaid, and at times treated unfairly while working for other companies, it immediately became my goal to obtain entrepreneurship and financial freedom
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
No it was not easy! The first step was taking that leap of faith and continuing to bet on myself. Being a introvert is always a challenge having to be front and center, networking and pitching myself to the world. I overcome that by prayer, speaking positivity over myself, my vision, my brand and remembering why I started! Ive learned so many lesson’s, time management, business etiquette, money management, whether you’re a celebrity client or not I treat all of my clients the same. I want the world to know that my goal is to empower women through beauty, often times as women we need that extra push, a boost in confidence to be able to walk in any room and achieve our goals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’m still learning New Columbus myself but I would have to say currently my most favorite areas are Short North Art District, Franklington, Old Town East is beautiful as well. Places to eat omg Forno is a vibe, The Guild house has great good and cocktails, insomnia and The Peach cobbler factory for sure. For a chill vibe we could hang out at Land grant.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! I am forever grateful for the mentorships, opportunities and inspiration from my grandmother Mary E. Nash, my late grandmother Nora Mae as well as The Worlds Famous Colors, Penna’e Akpuru, Terrence Davidson and The First Female African american Billionaire Madam C.J Walker.
