Meet Libby Goetz | Mastermind of Stitch by Libby

We had the good fortune of connecting with Libby Goetz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Libby, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It’s hard to think back and figure out exactly what my thought process was when starting my business. I taught myself to sew with the intentions to make money but I was not sure exactly what my plan was when I started except to keep going and figure out what works best for me personally and at the same time to become more successful! It was a lot of trial and error but I enjoyed what I was doing and wanted to become successful and grow every year!
What should our readers know about your business?
I think the main thing that sets me apart from others is ME! I am coming up with ideas and doing things that make me happy not just doing it to “be successful” I am very true to myself. I am where I am today by never giving up and really enjoying what I am doing. When you love what you do it’s a lot easier to keep going after you have a bad day(or week). It has not been easy and it’s so much learning. I had to start learning from the start. I think it took my like an hour to thread my sewing machine the first time. It’s just me doing everything. I might not be great the first time but if I keep going I will keep getting better. I’ve learned you just need to keep going and not dwell on that bad day you had the day before. I just want people to know I love what I am doing, I love meeting everyone, hearing stories of who they are buying for, seeing pictures and so many other things that come along with Stitch by Libby.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to see in Cleveland! I would start the trip by having coffee and lunch at Van Aken and hang out there for the afternoon. Before we left we would casually walk past The Corner so she can see my products on the shelf and be impressed. 😄 We would also have to take a trip to Medina and stop at the Common Ground to visit all the small businesses then stop at the Sqaure in Media with hopes there is a market going on for even more shopping. One afternoon we would hang out at the Flats then walk over to the stadium for a Guardians game. My best friend has kids and so do I so one day we would go to the Metroparks for a little hike to a creek and let the kids play in the creek. After the creek we would stop for ice cream in North Royalton at What’s the Scoop. We would also have to play putt putt at Buzzard’s Cove and have pizza there after.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people deserve credit in my success! My husband is the first person to come to mind because he is always helping whenever needed and coming up with ideas of his own that he wants me to try out and many of the ideas are successful. It’s amazing to have such a supportive husband. My family and friends deserve lots of credit as well. I am always bouncing ideas off and getting their opinions. They are always supportive. So many of their friends or coworkers have reached out to me because they promote what I am doing. It’s a blessing to have friends and family like the ones I have. The community of all the other small businesses and the supporters are amazing to be around. I am always learning from them. And then lastly so many people I have met at markets. There has been so many time after a market that I will be motivated to try something new due to a positive conversation I have with someone. So shout out to so many and thank you for helping me become what I am today!
