Meet Lindsie Vizethann | nurse, health and nutrition coach, and certified personal trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsie Vizethann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I think it’s taken me a long time to get here. My goal has always been to help people but the way of doing that has evolved from an ER nurse to a gym owner to now a health coach. I think each of those roles have prepared me for the next one, helping me understand the risk and reward of sole ownership. I have the flexibility and freedom to make it what I want, which means no more handing out pills or following a franchise model. I can truly help people in a way that I believe is beneficial and pivot when necessary to continue to help them in the way they need.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I can pair my nursing background with my health coaching practice. I work with men and women to help them lose weight and learn habits that help them manage their chronic conditions such as high blood pressure. This means making it a lifestyle and it could be avoiding the need for medication altogether or being able to better manage their numbers while on medications as they live a healthier lifestyle. There are so many gimmicks out there (and believe me I’ve tried some of them). But that is not me. I work with my clients as a team on setting realistic, manageable goals, and provide them with a solution and equip them with the tools that can last a lifetime.
As a nurse, I was simply giving out pills or putting “bandaids” on things for a temporary, quick fix, and as nursing evolved, I realized there was so much more to it than that. As a gym owner, I was able to provide a community for fitness enthusiasts, but as I celebrated the wins with members, I came to realize how much more there was to it than that, such as the nutrition aspect, stress, work/life balance, and always had a special place in my heart for the members who celebrated when their doctor told them their labs were better or they could decrease their blood pressure medicine.
So no, the road has not been easy. I walked away from a management job and almost 20 years in the healthcare industry, and then I literally put blood, sweat and tears into the gym. But as it came to an end, it felt right and I was glad we were able to pass it on to someone else because I truly feel I am doing what I was meant to do all along.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, it wouldn’t be anything too extravagant. I live on one of the top rated beaches in Florida, and most people that come to visit, want to do just that. It would probably be a lot of relaxing on the beach or poolside, and because I love to cook and prefer to eat at home more than going out, we would probably eat breakfast from the balcony where we can usually catch dolphins feeding and then set up for dinner in the same spot to catch the amazing Florida sunset.
Because we would have to do a couple things besides just going to the beach, next on the list would be visiting the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It is where my husband and I got married and a great place to learn about all the rescued and rehabilitated sea life. I would also offer up a live sports game. The Tampa Bay area is a great place for sports, and you can usually catch any type of game at any point of the year. My favorite would be the Tampa Bay Lightning. For a fancier dinner one night, to maybe hit up a museum, or even walk the beautiful new pier, St. Petersburg would definitely be the spot for meeting new people and just hanging out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my husband. Without him, I would not have had the encouragement or financial support to take a leap and leave nursing to follow my passion of helping others and opening a gym. And even now moving on from the gym, he continues to support me and my efforts to grow my business and makes it possible to do what I love.
