Meet Liz Appulese | Herbalist, Cosmetic Formulator & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Appulese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that I have learned so far throughout my journey as a small business owner, has been perseverance. When it comes to beginning a new career, there are always ups and downs. I started my business when I was 20 years old, and learned everything that I know now from simply asking questions and persevering through obstacles instead of giving up. No obstacle is too big to accomplish if you think, plan, take your time and ask questions… You have to believe things are possible and really work towards your goals if you want to achieve them bad enough!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an herbalist, cosmetic, formulator, and small business owner. I founded AuraPure Essentials with a mission to create a brand of handmade products that are good for you and for the earth. I am proud to say that I am four years into my career and have loved every second of it. Of course there have been some obstacles, but perseverance is key! I feel like right now, everybody including myself, feels like the world is kind of turning upside down. I want my business to be proof that there are folks out there still that have good intentions, care about your well-being and care about our planet as a whole. Living sustainably can be very easy when you have the right tools, which is why I have began sharing my knowledge through free downloadable e-books, and have also started my own blog for those who are interested in learning more!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a best friend that was coming to my area, I definitely would take them into the city to try some good eats… Columbus has a lot of wonderful restaurants and coffee/tea spots, but also would be sure to enjoy the opposite end of the spectrum where you can slow down, enjoy nature and go on scenic walks. The Olive Tree is Mediterranean, family owned restaurant that I used to work at and absolutely love their food and the environment! I have too many favorite coffee spots to pick one… so we would just have to make a stop at a new one each day! Some of my favorite places to go enjoy nature are Quarry trails, Indian Village & Darby Creek. Columbus is full of adventure and if you’re willing to drive an hour out of the city, you will be able to experience so many things!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my life, I have been very blessed to have so many supportive figures on my side. Whether it was family, friends, teachers from school, coworkers or bosses at my job, I have always had a team full of support and encouragement. I have always had a go-getter personality. I am full of ideas, passion and have a lot of drive. I can definitely give my biggest thanks to my family for raising me in a supportive environment and instilling the power of belief in me, and I believe this is what helped shaped me into the person I am today. My parents were always showing interest in my current idea, and never doubting the next- for that I am grateful.
