We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucretia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucretia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my business stemmed from a desire to embrace my God-given talents and skills to build a career rooted in my passion for event planning. I wanted to create a space where I could take ownership of my future and become an expert in my field, offering tailored, high-quality experiences to clients. My thought process revolved around gaining independence, developing a strong foundation for success, and channeling my creativity into a business that reflects my values. By carefully considering the risks and rewards, and with a clear vision of my goals, I structured my business to thrive in an evolving industry while maintaining a strong focus on client satisfaction and personal growth.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business focuses on event planning and management, with an emphasis on creating unique and memorable experiences. What sets me apart is my commitment to tailoring every event to the client’s specific needs while infusing it with creativity and meticulous attention to detail. I take pride in my ability to design events that leave lasting impressions, whether they are corporate meetings, private celebrations, or holiday gatherings.

Getting here wasn’t easy—I faced challenges such as limited resources, self-doubt, and learning how to navigate the complexities of building a business. However, I relied on my God-given talents, including a natural eye for detail and a deep sense of organization, to overcome obstacles. By staying focused, investing in my skills, and drawing on the support of my family, I transformed setbacks into opportunities.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success requires resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose. I want the world to know that my brand is built on a foundation of trust, creativity, and the belief that every event should be an extraordinary experience. My story is one of perseverance and passion, and I’m proud to share it through every project I undertake.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start our day by visiting Kennedy’s Kakes, a Black woman-owned bakery for some sweet and delicious breakfast pastries and coffee. We’d take a stroll through The King Arts Complex, which is rich with Black cultural heritage and history. We’d visit Modern Southern Table a Black woman-owned café with tasty southern comfort dishes. We’d explore the Short North Arts District, stopping by Zora’s House, a co-working and event space for women of color. We would have dinner at Soul 2 Go Cafe for appetizing soul food by a minority-owned team followed by attending a live show at Natalie’s Grandview, a woman-owned music venue with a laid-back vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my recognition to my supportive family, friends, and community, whose encouragement has been invaluable on my journey. Their unwavering belief in me—whether through emotional support, practical assistance, or simply being present during tough times—has made all the difference. I also want to highlight my inspiring network of event planners and small business owners whose resilience and creativity continually motivate me to stay focused on my path. Their passion reminds me of the purpose behind my work and inspires me to bring my best to every event I plan.
