Meet Maine Soul | Artist/Rapper

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maine Soul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maine, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up on the Eastside of Detroit, hip-hop and art were always part of my DNA. Coming from the J Dilla, Frank and Dank lineage, I always knew I wanted to be part of this movement. It was a way to express myself, tell my story, and connect with others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Life in general sets me apart, know one path is the same and I happen to express mine in an unorthodox way, Whether that’s art or music I tend to be an open book.
Development for me wasn’t easy it took hours and life experiences to get to where I am at and it’s so much more growth that’s wanted and needed. I learned in that the hard work not only pays off but keeps you grounded, it kept me wanting to learn more great habits and just be great at what I do.
I want the world to know that “Maine Soul” is love in a nut shell, someone who walks through life just like them and writes his way through, and at the end of it all he left a feeling you can always relate to.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visiting Detroit I have to show them around downtown, river walk get some scenery and vibes after it’s a must we hit “Sweet Water Tavern”. Detroit has a great night life so we would bounce around. But on a creative side we’d definitely hit the studio vibe out and maybe even hit the art studio as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
“I want to give a huge shoutout to my mom, who’s been my biggest supporter since day one and will continue to be with me through every step of this music journey. She’s been there from the start, and I know she’ll be there until the very end.
I also want to shout out my dad, one half of the legendary group Frank N. Dank. He’s the one who really taught me how to rap at a high level and how to truly look at music from a deeper perspective. One of the most important lessons he gave me was that music is a conversation between you and the fans. Someone out there will always connect with what you’re saying because we all go through things as living, breathing people. His wisdom has been invaluable to my growth as an artist.
A special shoutout goes to my heavenly angel, my great-grandma, who always holds me down and sends me inspiration from above. I know she’s watching over me, helping me every step of the way.
Big love to my producer, Prixeless, who’s been holding me down throughout this journey and especially during the creation of my upcoming project, Are You OK? Without his dedication, this project wouldn’t be what it is.
Lastly, I can’t forget the man above. I owe everything to Him because without His guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Also, to my friends who keep it real with me, whether it’s telling me something is good or bad, thank you for always being honest. Your input helps me stay sharp.”
