Hi Mary Kay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Bus Stop Mamas was conceived at the bus stop. While I stood with other moms, waving to the kids on the bus, I realized that I was surrounded by people who want to do something after their kids hop on the bus. I also recognized that there are a lot of employers, right around the corner, that would benefit to gain access to these super peeps, who happen to be super mamas too!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bus Stop Mamas is a workforce platform that give employers to off market talent–moms. The platform allows moms to find work that fits their schedule as their children mature–from the car seat to the bus seat to the driver’s seat and beyond. The platform allows employers to meet a talent base that is critical to their company’s success as well as to the future of work. Mom.

Bus Stop Mamas is a female owned company and we operate accordingly–the simple model solves many problems. Employers need talent and we provide it. Check!
Childcare is costly, hard to find and not an option for many families. Bus Stop Mamas allows moms to find work that fits with her schedule. Check!
The future of work is reliant on people production. Moms deliver people. Women are opting out of having children. Bus Stop Mamas creates a Motherhood Career Pathway–now everyone wins. Check!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh boy…there are so many wonderful places to visit in Cleveland Ohio. The Cleveland Metroparks are absolutely incredible. Growing up in Ohio and moving away allowed me to really appreciate the beautiful and free parks in my former backyard. I would for sure pop into Discount Drug Mart for some picnic snacks and drink, because the feel in Drug Mart is special to me and they have everything! I used to make regular trips to Drug Mart for everything my mom needed as soon as I got my driver’s license:) Discount Drug Mart is family owned and a real entrepreneur success story. Mr. Boodjeh was a brilliant man and I love his story. His son Don carries on his father’s legacy. And no doubt, I’d run into people I know there because everyone goes to Drug Mart.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Jodi Fulmer is my right hand mama! Jodi was the first mom in the Bus Stop Mamas network, back in January 2019, and Jodi is a critical part of Bus Stop Mamas success. Jodi is the COO of Bus Stop Mamas. She is an extraordinary human and mama.
