Meet Megan Badia | Wedding and Elopement Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Badia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk Taking … I am a huge risk taker. I think with taking risks comes the most growth! I think without it there aren’t chances for learning. I think risks also create space for opportunity! Taking risks involves making decisions under uncertainty. Developing effective decision-making skills is essential for navigating both personal and professional challenges. As a business owner I feel like we have to be in the business of taking risks almost daily as we have to make such decisions to align with our ever changing goals and values.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up photos always played a role in my life. My father was huge into camcorder videos on our yearly trips to Disney and always had a camera bag attached to his shoulder any time we were experiencing something cool. Phipps Conservatory in the winter, Pittsburgh zoo in the summer, every family birthday we have pictures of each of these occasions. It wasn’t until later in life and after college I realized how important a photo is. When my grandfather passed, I remembered that all I wanted to do was to relive those old moments. To visualize those memories of the good times. I think thats when it really set in. Back around 2017 I realized the importance of a photo. From there it bloomed and blossomed into the business it is today. I wouldn’t say the path to success is an easy one but I also know everyone defines success differently. My end goal is to love what I do and to enjoy doing it! I started from the ground up, teaching myself and immersing myself in any free education I could get my hands on. From there, I decided to invest in myself, my education, my gear and my knowledge. I created a community that was supportive and kept pushing towards my goals! If there’s anything I want people to know about my art, it’s that I really do love photographing people, capturing unique stories in colors that resonate with warmth and authenticity. Beyond snapping the perfect shot, I’m here to ensure your experience is stress-free, enjoyable, and filled with laughter. I strive to serve you beyond expectations, creating an atmosphere where you can be yourselves. I welcome you with open arms no matter what walk of life you are in. All are welcome here.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Columbus is a BIG city. However I love Bridge Park and Historic Dublin. That would be day 1 for sure! You can have happy hour at The Pearl from 4-6 ( the best Happy hour) and then shop around and grab drinks at some of the local breweries, bowl at Pins Mechanical and then catch dinner at VASO Rooftop and Lounge! Other fun things you could check out while in Columbus : Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Cosi, Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Museum of Art and a plethora of beautiful parks, sports teams and night life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Im thankful for everyone I have had the opportunity to meet and create with along this path. However, I think a special shoutout goes to Jai Long, Kayla Esparza and the Baldwin Wallace Baseball team. Each other these contributors did different things for me but all gave me the confidence to be where I am today! I started shooting sports photography with the BW Baseball team while my now Husband was in college. From there it bloomed and took a different turn into couples and their love. Jai Long offers the summit every year at $7 and I remember him saying to always put yourself in rooms with people who are smarter than you. In addition his back story is so inspiring, it gave me the fuel I needed. Kayla Esparza’s work is impeccable, I joined her for a styled shoot out in Joshua Tree a few years ago. Her knowledge and charisma on life was awe inspiring and the work I got to do there was a great kickstart for my portfolio. Without these people I know I wouldn’t be where I am today!
