Meet Megan Carver | Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Carver and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up I would always create funny short films with my friends using an old camcorder. When it was time for friend’s birthdays, I was gifting them video compilations. I was always interested in creating content, but when I went to college I was so set on being a science major that I didn’t think to follow my true passions. After college and switching my major four times, I ended up working a government job and felt unfulfilled, so I looked to social media to fulfill that creative itch. I started as an account that shared my own cooking and grocery hauls, which was fun but became tedious typing out the recipes and instructions. I am the type of person who looks up every menu, review, and photos of what entrees I’m considering ordering before visiting a restaurant, so I figured I could help add content for people who do that too. I’m also the type of person who loves hyping up Columbus to people and trying to highlight spots that show Ohio is better than people think it is. This all inspired me to create an account that highlights restaurants and things to do in Columbus and surrounding areas.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When most people hear the word “Ohio” or “Columbus” who don’t live here, they think boring or full of cornfields. I am proud to highlight the amazing local businesses, beautiful nature when you seek it out, and great quality of life you can have here. I hope people see my content and realize there is more to Columbus than they originally thought. I hope people who live in Columbus can be inspired to try a new restaurant or visit a new park and bring more joy to their lives. I hope people visiting Columbus can be inspired with activities or food to eat during their trip. I have learned that it takes time and trial and error when creating content to get across your message in a meaningful way. You can’t expect to post content and right away find success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was flying in on a Friday night, I would first take them to Arepazo in Brewery District. I would suggest we order lomo saltado and chilaquiles with tons of cilantro sauce. After we would walk over to Antiques on High and sit on their rooftop with a drink and catch up. Saturday morning we would start the day walking the Scioto Mile, getting some steps in and taking in the beautiful city views. We would continue our walk all the way to Emmetts cafe to order the amazing breakfast burrito, one handed sandwich, and tater tots. After breakfast we would walk to Parable cafe and get iced lattes. Next we would go home and get ready to tailgate for an Ohio State football game. Once the game starts, we would make our way to The O on Lane to watch the game and have a few drinks. Halfway through the game we would switch bars and go to Out-R-Inn. Once the game was over, we would go home and relax for a bit to get ready for dinner. For dinner we made reservations at La Tavola in Grandview for amazing Italian food. On Sunday we would wake up and get coffee at Winn Winn Cafe before driving over to Bangkok Restaurant for my favorite Thai food in the city. After eating lunch, we would drive to Slate Run Metro Park to visit the historical farm and do some hiking on the trails. Once we were done hiking, I would want to go to Easton Town Center and browse around shops. For dinner we would have build your own bowls at Brassica!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my fiancé Bryan Finneran who is always up for trying new restaurants, activities, and patiently waiting to eat his food while I film it for content!
