Hi Melissa, how does your business help the community?
UnBAR Cafe brings together under one roof people from different cultural backgrounds, traditions, and beliefs, creating a rich community tapestry. The feedback from our clients always comments on the environment and energy of the space, some people call it energy, vibe and others just simply say I love it here. We have a high rate of repeat customers and regulars.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m known as an executive level technology leader, business organizational development professional and business owner. with over 30 years of experience developing Information Technology strategies and delivering operational excellence within the consumer products and financial services verticals. I am the Owner and President of the UnBAR Café Inc., an independent Coffee and Wine Bar located in the Larchmere neighborhood of Cleveland, and a licensed Real Estate agent in Ohio.

I’ve spent over 25 years in various senior leadership roles at Cleveland Metropolitan School District, American Greetings, and KeyCorp. I am an active member of the Shaker Area Development Corp (SHAD), Woodhill Steering Committee, National Association of University Women, and Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc., past trustee for the Shaker Heights Library Board, and Greater Cleveland YMCA. I earned a Bachelor of Management and Information Systems (Notre Dame) and a Master of Management with a concentration in Systems Thinking (Ursuline College).

I am motivated by supporting others along their journey to enlightenment, whether it be improving their finances, relationships, and or spiritual growth.

My brand mission is to encourage alignment of mind, body, and soul by creating a space with options to address each part of who we are.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ms. Karen Watson has been a faithful customer for 4 years. She is dubbed my Community Observer and has been to UnBAR consistently every day since the day we opened. Ms Karen cleans tables, greets customers and points out opportunities to improve our service to the community. She does all of this without pay and patronizes UnBAR everyday.
