Meet Micah Dixon | Mother, Radio Personality, Speaker of Life

We had the good fortune of connecting with Micah Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was the word Freedom. One day something hit me that I wanted to have my OWN, and I also wanted to be able to dictate my schedule as I see fit. My business started with my brand, Micah Dixon, from hosting gigs, to a fitness clothing brand, to now being involved in Public Relations, to Micahs Groupchat, and the Dope Dixon LLC.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
How did I get to where I am today professionally? I took a RISK and I jumped!!! I entered the radio world in the year of 2015, Shoutout to Harley Boy who helped me to get hired with Radio One. 2017 I moved to Columbus to further my career and signed my first contract. Was it EASY? NO, NOT AT ALL, I did all of this as a mother of a toddler, who was chasing her dream. There was a lot of hate I received, when I moved from Cleveland, and got to Columbus. I had to learn to not pay attention to distractions, and stay focus on my mission. My mission was simple, I just wanted to WIN. My mission was to be the top radio talent that Columbus, OH had ever seen. And I did just that, I won!! Im a winner. A lesson to take away from my journey is to take your eyes off of what other people are doing or saying and trust in the vision/mission you have for you life and go for that. When it comes to my brand, and my story, you should know, that as a woman, mother, brand, business owner, I am Resilient, I do not back down, I go for what I want, and I do it Grace and Love. A quote I love, from one of my favorite people, is that “We do the things today that most people aren’t willing to do, so that we can afford to do tomorrow, what most people cannot afford to do” Be a WINNER and DOMINATE

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay so Cleveland is exciting all around. The season we are in right now is Winter, so I would be in the house lol. But if it’s Spring or Summer for sure, we would have to stop by and see Edgewater, and have an adventure on one or three of the Metropark Trails. The views, creeks, lake, and lushness of the trees give an amazing view. We would hangout over on Clifton, and go to the Lighthouse for food, they have Top Tier customer service. Another day we would have to hit up downtown and stop by the Great lakes science center, and perhaps the Rock and Roll HOF, we would eat at Sora. Next day we are off to Cleveland Natural Museum, and Botanical Garden, we would head to University Circle, grab some food at Kenko. Somehow we’d make our way to Eleven 3 for some banging food! Day 4 lets go to Sandbox and do some VR fun, and check out the mall at Crocker Park, Salmon Daves has great food not too far out. Eventually we would come back downtown for a Cavaliers or Guardians, or Browns game and after we have food at the game we are going to Hooked or Grille 55 to eat. We would have to check our where DJ Ryan Wolf, the King Lou Experience and DJ Yulissa are mixing for good music, and a good time. Their events are top tier and knowledgeable in how to scale your business. Of course to stay on our healthy journey we would make our way to Bedford to shop with TailorMadeSeamoss, and enjoy a salad from Fresh Times Salads, and soursop juice. The Tiki Boat I have yet to check out, but from what I see online, it looks like a good time. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As of today, I would like to recognize my mentors that have helped me become the amazing radio talent, host, media mogul that I am today, that includes Bill Black, Keisha Nicole, and Incognito. They literally took me up under their wing and taught me the ins and out of the radio business, and how to be an asset in this field of work. Salute to them! I would like to also highlight my best friend Jayde who has seen me go through this entire journey, and she is still with me now as I am preparing to reach new heights. I love you Jade! Last but not least, shoutout to the man in my corner, my soon to be husband who is my biggest fan. Thank you for being present, and believing in me. I love you Deep, I will never play about you!
