Meet Miranda Alexander | Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miranda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am the type of person that does not like working for someone else, I am definitely a team player but I love the freedom of making my own schedule and being able to work on my own time. Before I was a baker I babysat kids in my home. It still wasn’t the freedom I really wanted so when I found baking macarons made me happy and money it was really a no brainer I absolutely love what I do and will continue to do for many years.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my business in 2019 , I am a self taught macaron baker and chocolatier. I love creating custom orders to make a clients dreams come true! I think what sets me apart from other bakers is my details , I do my absolute best to make sure everything I put in an order is edible. I really want you to be able to enjoy everything not just pieces and parts of your order. I am excited about the future this last year as been a complete whirlwind and I can’t wait to see what is next ! There hasn’t been many challenges lately with the business besides time , time to get all the orders done and making time for myself and family which is extremely important when you own your own business.
Lessons lately are more personal than business but they have still taught me a lot this year and something I won’t forget.
2024 will be the best year yet ! I can’t wait to see how the business grows stay tune and enjoy the journey !
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our little towns around have so much to offer , I would hope they would visit during an event or something so there is a lot going on. But if it was just a normal regular day we would start with coffee from The Depot Coffehouse in Urbana then stroll up town to some of the shops , swing through Bell’s Flowers and introduce them to Isabel and check the macaron boxes (always working it’s just how I am) . A stroll to Ohio Roots Boutique and get the cutest clothes , then I think I would have to take them to Farmers Daughter for a home cooked Ohio meal and introduce them to my favorite waitress she’s always there. We would then adventure up north to Bellefontaine and see all the shops they have the best shopping! End our day with an early dinner at the Flying Pepper (margaritas and tacos) you can’t beat it ! Our little towns have many of things to do but our shopping is by far some of my favorite!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and all my customers, without you I would not be the successful small business owner I am today.
