Meet Molly Rodgers Wireman | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Rodgers Wireman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I believe the best thing I did was invest in myself, and my equipment. When I started photography I was told to just get a starter, cheap camera. Instead of doing that I decided to make a bit of a risky decision of getting really quality gear and putting it all on a credit card (haha). Instead of being afraid I’d fail and also be in debt, I decided that I was going to do this, love this, and give it my all. Thankfully it truly has paid off, and I’m so happy I decided my goals were worth it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I first started dabbling in photography I truly did not realize the amount of work it took. I was ignorant in a way that I thought I would just take pictures and it would be so easy. There’s so much more that goes into this art. I remember searching for my style through other photographers’ work until I realized that my own style had to come from me, not others. I believe my style of photos sets me apart from others because it is a more deep and classic look, I’ve always wanted my photos to come across as timeless and not ‘trendy,’ but to still have a beautifully candid vibe. I love listening to my clients perspective on what they envision and making each session its own in some way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really love nature and good food. I would love to go on a lot of hikes since Dayton, Ohio has so many beautiful outdoor places. I’m always envisioning the different photos I can get wherever I go. Especially on a fall day there is no better place to be than going from Metropark to Metropark around Hills and Dales. One of my favorite spots to eat is absolutely Seuno in downtown Dayton!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout-out to my children, and my family. My kids are my main reason I decided to jump into this career and give it love, and it gives me the flexibility to be with them so much more while showing them art can give you a future. Also I am so thankful for supportive parents and siblings that always encourage my goals!
