Meet Nancy Caetta | Founder & Creator of Blackrose Bubbles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Caetta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always loved being very hands on in activities, ever since I was a kid. Being able to build and create things has always been something that fascinates me. Before I decided to branch out and create Blackrose Bubbles, I spent over a decade in the restaurant business, where you are focused on creating- be it food, drinks, or customer experiences. Making the transition into crafting my own brand of vegan-friendly soaps, candles, and more was nearly seamless with my desire to create being the backbone of my drive. Having an outlet to create fun, funky, and sometimes quirky products, while mixing in the aspect of being vegan-friendly, brings a smile to my face, and all of my consumers as well!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blackrose Bubbles has a very niche set of products available, given that we are vegan- friendly. All of our soaps, lip balms, candles, and wax melts are made entirely free from animal byproducts. When I was creating my products, I wanted to stay true to being vegan- friendly despite this being an obstacle in creating many of my final products. Finding the raw materials to create my final products has been an uphill battle, and initially took many months of trial-and-error testing to formulate my recipes for my brand. In the initial stages of building my business, I had the unwavering support and encouragement of my friends and family, which was pivotal in the early stages of creating my brand.
If I had to let the world know something about myself and my brand, it would be that you should stay true to who you are, and your vision, Taking the easy way out and changing yourself and your idea because it may seem “too hard” initially won’t be as gratifying as it is when you get that breakthrough in your creations and they are able to come to life before your eyes. Watching your vision turn from an idea to a tangible product, is so fulfilling.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I have a friend coming into the area, I would make sure we had the best time ever! I’d make sure we stop at Luigi’s and Nomz for some food, and Square or The Matinee in Highland Square for some late night drinks. I love going on hikes, and doing things outdoors, so going to The Gorge and Brandywine trails would be a must. I love checking out all of the local businesses in the area, so stops at Northside Marketplace and JG South Town Market would be perfect, as they both showcase different local makers and crafters in their stores. When we go to relax and unwind, checking out Whiskers and Wine Cat Lounge and Speak Easy Coffee and Conversation would be the best spots to hit. Akron, Medina, and Canal Fulton are bursting with tons of small businesses, cute places, and hangout spots to indulge in for a week!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is a plethora of people that I am thankful to be able to pull inspiration and encouragement from, but there are 2 places and people that I feel deserve a special shoutout here. There are several small businesses that are in the area that are truly an inspiration and a personal asset to my business, but there are these in particular I feel deserve special recognition- The Northside Marketplace and JG South Town Market. Both businesses are ran by local entrepreneurs who strive to see the local community grow and thrive. Northside Marketplace is home to over 120 local businesses under 1 roof, all brought together by owner Justin Lepley. Justin does an amazing job at guiding and encouraging business owners of all types, sizes, skill levels, and backgrounds to elevate their business to the next level. JG South Town Market is headed by Sheena Stewart, who just opened up her shop this year where dozens of local makers and crafters are housed. She also hosts a large array of pop-up craft and vendor shows in northeast Ohio, which gives all of us small business owners and crafters an amazing opportunity at exposing ourselves and our brand throughout the year. Both of these businesses and people have been a huge part of Blackrose Bubbles’s growth over the last year!
