Meet Nicole Camera | Permanent Makeup Artist specializing in Powder Brow Tattoo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Camera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been a creative person and after working for several years in a position that felt monotonous, I decided that if I didn’t make a change then, I never would. I needed to have a career that allowed me to utilize my artistic side. So I decided to dive headfirst into PMU and that was almost 2 1/2 years ago now. I love being able to channel my creativity into each client as everyone is unique-different ages, skin types, bone structure, desired outcome, etc. Giving someone eyebrows that are tattooed is truly an art and I enjoy every set, even those that may be challenging. Seeing my client’s reactions and having them tell me how much they love their brows is truly so satisfying. There is always something to learn and improve upon, so this career really allows me to keep growing and challenging myself as an artist.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think in any artistic career, it is important to find what sets you apart and not constantly compare yourself to others in the same industry. It can be very hard to do this! I really strive to give my clients soft, natural healed brows that will age with them and gradually fade/soften over time. My technique may be different than other artists and I think it took me time to accept that and become comfortable in who I am as an artist. And I love hearing that my clients chose me because of my natural looking results! I look at each session with my clients as girl time and truly enjoy hearing all that my clients share with me. I have learned to never stop practicing as there is always room to improve. I also am proud of my follow up and communication with clients. I stay very connected with clients and it goes a long way when clients feel that you care about them and their long-term results.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am such a homebody! But…In my hometown Amherst, I love Cole’s Public House for dinner and drinks and grabbing lunch and a smoothie at Doc Watson’s Market. We also have Park Lanes Bowling and several bars, shops and coffee houses to visit. Sandstone Candleworks allows you to customize your own candles. A relaxing facial with Restorative Aesthetic Wellness. On the Rocks Climbing Gym in Elyria is a fun time and a workout. There are so many cute little shops in downtown Vermilion as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The girls I work alongside of at Salon Belle Vie have been so supportive and helpful since day 1. And of course, my family for supporting me when I decided to start my own business. Finding a group of people that are always there to motivate, bounce ideas off of, give feedback, etc. is so important.
