We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is “We take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone” This quote means a lot to me cause a lot of people hold pictures close to their heart. And it truely is a return ticket to moments that are otherwise in the past. I love being able to be the one to give this to my clients. Exspecially seeing my bands grow as people and see them grow as a band together.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I fell in love with photography when I was just a kid in middle school. My aunt was my biggest inspiration. She was an amazing photographer. I think what sets me apart from others is that I can see what others can’t. But I also believe every photographer has their own style. Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. But it sure was worth it. Not only have I gained a lot of clients. But these bands are a lot more like family. I have learned to never give up. Life isn’t going to be easy but pushing forward is what makes it all worth it and you also get to learn how to grow as a person. I had a lot of people tell me growing up I would never be a photographer. Happily I got to prove them wrong.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in erie pa are
Voodoo brewing company, The Bicentennial tower, Presque Isle and Big Bar

Some of my favorite people to check out are definitely the local bands. Storms Within, Scars Of Agony, Gelatin Skeleton, Souls Collapse, 4 Walls, Grim Grin, Battle Chappell, VerNOTica, and so much more. They play at Voodoo Brewing Company, Basement Transmissions, Philly on the rocks, ect.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my boyfriend Ron Dickum. Drummer of Storms Within. I remember the 1st time I went and did my very 1st photo shoot with a band at the Sandbar in Erie PA. It was a disaster to say the least. But he encouraged me to keep coming to shows and to keep trying. And little to my suprise I got much better over time. He is now my co-owner of N.Miller Photography and helps me with a lot of what I do and networking with different bands.
