Meet Olivia Atley | Doula, Herbalist, Reiki Master, Yoga Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Atley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy is being able to use as many of my gifts to help others. This makes me happy because I get to find creative ways to use the many gifts the Lord has given me. For a little while I thought that I could only use 1 at a time. I am so glad I realized that was a lie! My life feels more fulfilling when I get to work in and with the things I enjoy.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own 2 businesses: BusyBÿ and Cultivated Care for Perinatal Wellness. What sets both apart from others is our intentionality in all that we do. The core of our work is to provide meaningful and comprehensive services and education. What keeps me excited is the continuous positive support and engagement from our community.
I got to where I am through consistent strategic planning, intentional partnerships, faith, and the willingness to try and try again. It was not always easy. But when I stuck to my plans I would find moments of ease and joy. During the tough moments I always take time to pause, and remind myself why I began this work. After time to reflect I get back to my plans. What I have learned along the way is that it’s okay to pause. You do not have to always be on the go or creating something new. The work will be there when you’re ready to get back to it.
I think the best thing for people to know about me and my work is that it all comes from the heart. Every service, workshop, product, and engagement is centered on love and compassion.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh my! If my best friend came into town we would go to Easton and buy some comfortable waterproof hiking boots and set off the explore Blacklick Woods, Blendon Woods, and Sharon Woods. Then we make our way to Hocking Hills and hangout in a cabin to cook, eat, rest, hike, and rest some more! After a few days of that we would return to the city for some pool time at Highlands Park Aquatic Center. At some point we would have drinks at The Rossi and dinner at Ocean Club, wrapping up our time with a stay at The Junto.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will always give credit to my mother (Mona Atley), my grandmother (Ethel White), my great-grandmother (Damie Atley), and my sons (Josiah and Jabir) for the influence on my work. The person I would like to dedicate this “shoutout” to is my dear friend and significant other, Jesse L. Jackson III. He deserves a lot of recognition for his faith in and support of me.
