We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Tinnel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing an artistic career was not intentionally on my mind when I was younger, art has always been an outlet for myself. Photography started when I was five and I was running around with my fathers Polaroid 600 Express Silver Instant Film. I have the photos still of the random pictures I took off of that camera, they are some of my favorites due to the bulky square shape the film is printed out as. As I got older I started taking pictures of the moon, sunrises and sunsets, or anything involving my pets. During the holidays was my particular favorite time to walk around and get photos of the decorations and lights everywhere. As time went on, I never truly quit taking photos. My father gifted me my first Canon camera for Christmas in 2017 and my business started from there. Photography is still an outlet for myself but I also love working towards trying new ideas. I wouldn’t be me without photography in my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the most proud of the connections I have made during my photography career. My high school mentors always taught me ‘it’s who you know’ and they’ve always been right about that. I’ve got to meet a lot of inspirational people throughout the last five years or so. I love connecting with other creatives and having their point of view to look at. Consistency has also been something that I have learned along the way. Trying to consistently create art is not easy but it is the best challenge I try to overcome for myself. It makes me a better photographer when I push myself to create on a consistent timeline. I also learn a lot about patience and how to go with the flow, both help me daily.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I truly do not venture that far out in my eating habits. There are a few different places I would take friends to eat, but for breakfast I would recommend them trying the Sunbury Grill. It is the perfect family restaurant. My go to lunch is Bibibop, I love their yum yum sauce, but my absolute favorite place for dinner would be at Jimmy V’s Grill & Pub. Jimmy V’s has an amazing pasta called the Tri-Colored Cheese Tortellini and it is to die for! If we had the time, we would stop by Level One Bar + Arcade. It has an amazing atmosphere and it’s never too crowded.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a big shout out to both of my grandparents. They have been some of the biggest supporters in my photography story and were always encouraging me to submit my photos to any photo contest possible. I am very grateful for my friends and family, they all deserve recognition. Without their consistent love and support I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today. My career center teachers, Mr. Gallagan and Mr. Rowland, both deserve a huge shout out for being the best mentors in my life. They taught me so much and I still carry it with myself to this day.
