We had the good fortune of connecting with PastAura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PastAura, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
It was hard at first, because I am a nurse now who oversees about 20 patients a day and when I go home and have free time when im not being a mom I write. All of the things I do I feel sometimes hinder me by giving me writers block, but I learned to manage it by doing one thing. I decided take on life by one step at a time and it has really worked for me. I no longer plan ahead extensively, but just prepare a layout for possible things, because that way I am not overwhelmed by what doesn’t go my way. I really am starting to see more success from taking baby steps in order to balance taking care of my son, working and making my music. We all must find time to do all the things we love, because when we ourselves are happy then that is the energy we have around others. They to become inspired, are happy and learn to live in the present.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started writing music at the age of 12, but did not start rapping until 16. I put out an album “Slowly but Surely”, but took it down recently due to being misunderstood as I mentioned prior. My album can still be found on Soundcloud. I create all types of music such as rap, hip-hop, pop, trap, alternative and others. What sets me apart from others is my lyricism which I consider very witty. Some challenges I faced are working with the wrong people, being overpriced for certain work and not being old enough to understand how the music industry works. I overcame all these obstacles by learning from making errors, spending money with the wrong people and now I understand that I was making the same mistakes repeatedly. I started to actually work on my craft, ignore the comments, ignore the hate, and continue doing what I love to do, because in the long run it will pay off. For my brand I would love people to know I am all about LOVE.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to a real one, new upcoming artist named Yolow, who gave me a shot and allowed me to do more singing/rapping on a track on trap/rap beats. We have been collaborating and by the time this interview is out then you will get to hear what we have been working on behind the scenes together. You should definitely check him out, because he is on point with his sound, flow and even bars with touchy/hype subjects.
