We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Danielle Cody and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess Danielle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be to educate through my poetry. I consider myself to be a great educator with a deep love of poetry. It is my goal to publish many more books of poetry on many different topics, to educate while also being entertained, poetically.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been writing for over 25 years now. I created a “Life after High School” project in school and I was supposed to be an amazing published author right out of high school and be the next Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison. However, I graduated, went to work, bought a condo, got married and had kids… Before I knew it, I was a full time mom and wife. As my kids grew older and didn’t require as much attention became of high school age themselves, It reminded me of my myself and the goals I had at their age. I thought of my patients and I thought of my own story being like so many other mom’s/dad’s who lose themselves in the background and I decided to do something for myself, that I wanted to do for me, that was all mine! I have now successfully published one book of poetry, “Pieces of Princess” as of 11/15/2023 and currently working on the second without an end in sight!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am absolutely an outdoorsy kinda’ girl! Our first stop would be Smale Riverfront Park in Downtown Cincinnati, followed by Condado’s Taco’s and then a Segway tour of the city. Next, perhaps a walk along the strip on Ludlow Ave in Clifton and check out a few local boutiques or check out a concert at Ludlow Garage. Ending the evening with a walk through the vineyard at Vinoklet winery. Along the next few days, we would absolutely have to have breakfast at “6 in the Morning” because they have the best brunch in the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have such a strong support system that it is impossible to name one name. My husband, children and entire family are absolutely amazing and encouraging! My best friend, Tashonda Wooten, owner of The Balloon Parlor, who also happened to refer me to you all, is definitely a source of support and encouragement! She has been beside me for over 20 years, pushing, pulling and cheering me along. I also cannot not ignore the fact the working in an emergency room for two years and a cancer center for six, has had a deep impact in my life. Watching life end in the blink of an eye in emergency and creating bonds with my cancer patients over years and then often losing them played a major role in my life. I love(d) them all and I listened to them and how they focused on what REALLY mattered in life when you might be facing the end… I have to thank my patients for being willing to open up and share their feelings and giving me such insight…
