Meet Priscilla Nagy | Salon owner and hair stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Nagy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always loved art. So many forms of art too! I love to draw, paint and write. As a child I didn’t have many toys. We always had paper and a pencil! I used art as an outlet. There is no wrong way to express yourself through art. I always thought I’d do something artistic as a career. Then as I got older, I found a lot of artists got famous after their death. I didn’t want to be a starving artist! I wanted to create art and put food on the table. Hair is art! In todays time more then ever before hair is art! So much color and designs. I get to create all day long as a hair stylist.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a Master Stylist. Actively doing hair for nearly 20yrs. I love all things hair! I’m most proud of my courage to never give up! I’ve been challenged a lot over the years. Working for bosses who didn’t like bold fun hair! I would feel like an outcast. Today I’ve found my place in the world and it is bright, bold and beautiful! I can do traditional work as well as more creative, avian guard inspired looks. Your hair says a lot about you. I love when someone is not afraid to express themselves through their hair.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend come into town we would hit up the art museum! Definitely have to check out Lakewood. So much art comes from Lakewood! We absolutely have to do painting with a twist ! Avon just opened up a splatter painting at Pinspiration! They have great classes to take as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Rob The Original has kept me motivated as a hairstylist and artist! I had the pleasure of meeting him and talking with him at a hair show in Chicago. His personal story resonated with me. Growing up poor he used art as a means of play as well as therapy. No pens no pencil no problem, Rob can create a portrait out of salt!!! He’s amazing and so inspiring!
