We had the good fortune of connecting with Quincy “Big Heff” Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quincy “Big Heff”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a home for other creatives, for other artist and producers, for film makers and writers. So i started Capital Structure Entertainment and we have put out projects on DJ Ryan Wolf, Ty Bri, Idd Ack, and Alylah Divine, We started a television and film division in 2021 and released The Capp movie in 2023 which is streamed on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Mega Plus, and ShienTV its directed by Jon Lavelle and Deron Ratcliffe, written by Johnny Lump , Steele, and Dion Hatcher, The Platform docu-series on You42, 216 n Park television show which is created by Twon Zoe, and The Platform TV which is aired on Spectrum Channel 21 and hosted by CJ Martin and Charles Spikes. We also have the Big Heff Radio Show which has won Best Indie Radio Show three times at the Ohio Entertainment Awards with my cohost Crisis Banks, Eboni Daniels, Toxic Ang, DJ Dream, Brandy Marie, and T Wrex. I’m partnered in a tech company Toyz Electronics which is based outta Carnegie Mellon University with Damola Idowu and Wole Idowu, i also joined the team at Dj Connect App which is merging The Dj Culture with Tech created by Ceo Coop and Dj Ryan Wolf.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being in the music industry was tough coming from the midwest. There is not a lot of opportunity, i went and created a dj community with the Nerve Djs, a touring opportunity with Streets Most Wanted Tour, and relationships with media so my region could have opportunities. Ive worked for companies like Def Jam Records, 300 Entertainment, Mnrk Music, and Epic Records. The lessons I’ve learned were to build solid relationships, and work with integrity. Trust your gut and to believe in people, thats why ive maintained a presence for so long. The Big Heff brand is about creating superstars, whether it be in tech, in music, in brand partnerships.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming to Cleveland, i would take them to Zanzibar, The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, The Cavs or Browns game, I would want to check out some live music from The Grog Shop. If i wanted to hit up a good vibe The Academy Tavern, There is a certain energy that is downtown so places like Rumor, Lost, Fin & Feathers, and Anejo are places i would show them how the pulse of the city is. Cleveland is a great place to visit with alot of pockets to have fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have some great mentors that helped me guide my career as a music executive. Dee Sonaram,Eric Parler, Dee Trane, Steve Lobel, Shadow Stokes, Azim Rashid, are a couple that i want to thanks but also Dj Johnny O for being a big brother to me. I definitely have some great friends and people i talk to weekly Dion Hatcher, Dan Prell, Shawn of Modus Distribution, Tyra, Brandy, and Duke from my Capital Structure Team, also my mom Pat Ruff who has been my inspiration and telling me to dream big since i was a kid and my brothers John Ruff, Vida, & Cam
