We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Trillis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a parent, I think the most important thing that I have done to impact their early childhood growth is provide them with opportunities to try new things or explore new places.

Content creation has allowed me to provide unique experiences for my kids.

We started creating craft content on our @playfulcrafts Instagram page during the pandemic. This endeavor provided the boys with opportunities to book jobs with big companies, such as Toys R Us, Magnatiles, & more!

Post-pandemic, the boys wanted to get out of the house again.. So, we started a separate page called @brotherquests to share our adventures! Through this page, the boys get opportunities to promote local events and travel destinations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am actually a nurse with my MSN in education. I worked for 6 years in the ICU & in an outpatient Neurology infusion room. I left to stay home when I had my first boy. Then, my husband and I decided to have babies back to back, and I just never went back to work. Our 4 boys are all 15-18 months apart. I am still keeping up my nursing license, and may return to the profession in the future.

Art has always been a hobby of mine. I love to craft and paint! I started @playfulcrafts on Instagram originally to share our crafts during Covid. I discovered that content creation was a great way to express myself creatively, especially once I discovered how to make reels.

The primary struggle with content creation on social media is comparing yourself to other accounts. It can be discouraging to watch other accounts, with whom I have become friends with, grow quickly, while my accounts grow slowly. I have learned to ignore the “influencer” side of social media. I rarely look at insights, I post whenever I want to post, and I constantly have to put things in perspective. As long as I am able to achieve my main goal- provide experiences and opportunities to my boys that they would otherwise not have, I am happy!

I have also learned that connections are everything! Through making friends with other accounts and businesses, content creation has become more meaningful and FUN! True, social media can get competitive… I have learned to appreciate other accounts’ creativity and the way they capture experiences in reels when we post about the same event/business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came in town with her kids, I would plan different day trips filled with adventures!

We would definitely go to Edgewater Beach on Lake Erie and then Lindsey Family Play Space or Lakewood Park Playground. I love the views of downtown, and the lake of course, from these play areas!

Another favorite free outdoor play area of ours is Jordan Creek Adventure Park in Painesville. I would pair that east side adventure with Lake FarmPark or Penitentiary Glen Reservation (nature center and outdoor play area).

For hiking with kids, I would take them on the Ledges Trail at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. I would probably also squeeze in Whipps Ledges and Worden’s Ledges in Hinckley, as well as the Gorge Loop Trail in Brecksville!

Other local adventures we would take include: Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Great Lakes Science Center, Children’s Museum of Cleveland, and CanalWay Nature Center with Cliffs Bike Park!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful for my supportive husband being by my side as I navigate through the social media world!

I am also very thankful for my local Cleveland community for engaging with our @brotherquests content, and helping us grow over the past 2 years! I will continue to provide fun giveaways on our page with local events/businesses as a way to give back!

Thank you to my family and friends who have joined me at local promotional events, or helped with my boys! Being able to share fun experiences with you brings me so much joy! 🙂

Lastly, thank you to my little boys for always being up for a new adventure! My hope is that when you are older, you all continue taking “brother quests” together without me and take over the page!
