We had the good fortune of connecting with Reggie Pettegrew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reggie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
One thing I always say to anybody I talk to concerning this topic, or am mentoring, you will 100% of the time miss every single “shot” you don’t take. What does that mean? Well, when entering into the field in which you are pursuing business accolades, you have to know that plenty of people have been there and done that. You are new to the scene and not many people know you because you have yet to build up that reputation, but all it takes is one job/one customer experience, and that will put you on the map! When starting my first business with my friend Max (RAX Drywall and Paint, LLC) We knew that it would be a tough road getting started, but we overcame and conquered and now we are at the top of our field. When I started “Northeast Ohio Construction and Maintenance, LLC” My intentions were to provide a maintenance free lifestyle of living to the people of Northeast Ohio. There is many people that provide services with the goal of maintenance free living, but I know I will do it better. There is a certain amount of confidence you have to have in your abilities, and once you have that confidence you are on the path to success.

What should our readers know about your business?
As part of the RAX family of companies- Northeast Ohio Construction and Maintenance is a full service remodeling and maintenance contractor. Covered under the RAX family trademark, combined we are a full service contractor providing service from painting and drywall repair and hanging all the way to home remodeling and exterior maintenance. I have always believed in providing a five star customer experience for an affordable price. we are big enough to take on whatever job you would be interested in having done and small enough to give you that Personal one on one experience. There are always challenges in whatever business you are in, sometimes it is dealing with people trying to take advantage of you, all the way to supply chain shortages and building material increases. it never does cease to amaze us the way our economy fluctuates. One thing I pride myself in is never marking up any of my material, whatever I pay for it is what you are going to pay for it. That is just an added personal touch I like to pass onto my customers as I provide them with the upmost honest pricing and quality service.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The place that I recommend time and time again, would have to be Angelos Pizza in Lakewood. They are a full service restaurant and bar and are well known for their pizza throughout northeast Ohio. They get number one Pizza in Cleveland year after year and upon your first visit, you will see why. Personally, the only exciting things to do in and around the Cleveland area would be to catch a baseball game downtown (only when the Yankees come to town) and if you are feeling daring, taking the drive to Cincinnati to catch one as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is many can thank for my drive and success as not only a construction worker, and an entrepreneur, but there is a few main sources and inspirations I can think for the vast majority. First and foremost, I give all the glory to God- there is not a single thing I am able to do in life without the strength and mental capability I get straight from him. The second person that I think, for my success would be my dad, because it was not for my upbringing, and encouragement, along with the ethics & values instilled in me from when I was young man, I would not be able to maintain this journey without a role model like him. In reference to this particular business, the third person I would have to thank would be my late working partner and very good friend, Tim. Not only was he a father like influence working in the trade, but he was also part of the inspiration for branching off with this business to try and tie into different markets. Not only was he my “ cheerleader” but he was also the one behind designing my logos and everything I need to get started. Some thing I am forever Grateful for.
