Meet RetroMoe

We had the good fortune of connecting with RetroMoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi RetroMoe, what matters most to you?
Honesty and loyalty. These are under an umbrella of attributes of just, “being genuine” I guess. These are not only the things I value the most in business, but in life in general. Both in business and in my personal relationships, honestly and loyalty are paramount, both as a recipient, and provider. It is hard in today’s world to build trust and personal relationships with others, and even harder to find loyalty in any facet, so I have always valued those traits highly, and prided myself in being an honest, trustworthy, loyal person, that recognizes and appreciates all the efforts I see others make.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Although my love of art and music only contributes a portion of who I am into my business, Retro Bros., music and art have always been the driving force behind, and an immense part of–my life. In my shop, we always keep a stock of vintage and modern vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and even 8-tracks, and this is because I want these things to succeed and the beauty in music to be shared with, or sparked in, others. We always have music playing at the shop, sell tons of music autographs and memorabilia, and are happy to share stories about concerts or experiences with customers. Our sister-store, The Artisan Shoppe & Studio, even offers guitar lessons. As for my “art” in relation to my story, I have always played in bands, have done a little touring, and have been able to share the stage with legends like Joan Jett, and modern successes like 30 Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto’s band. I’d say my rock star days are behind me, but my love for art and music will always be apparent in my life, and ready to be shared with my store patrons through a new record, or a classic comic book!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I’m mostly a home-body, but there are definitely some pleasant, wonderful, and historical places in our little town I would always be happy to share! A lot of my recommendations would be dictated by the time of year of the visit! in the Summer and early Fall, our City Park has a Fall Festival in October, and a First Friday event each month! Most of what I like to do involves little pop-up markets and conventions! Just across the bridge is historical Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where there is a great community and a lot of cool little shops on Main Street, including the Mothman Museum, Statue, and other haunts related to Mothman! I really enjoy going to flea markets too, and the French 500 Flea Market is one I’ve went to since I was a kid, and that’s where I first started selling toys and collectibles. In the winter, our town’s “Gallipolis in Lights” is in the City Park as well, and is extremely beautiful. O. O. McIntyre Park is also a great place if you like nature.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the credit to my story, my life, and any success I have is due to my partner, Kelsey, and my unbelievable group of family and friends. For any success or amenities I have been afforded in life, I owe it all to them. No matter what the situation, I have always been fortunate to have a family, and now a life-partner in Kelsey, that I would put up against any in the world! With them I have been able to accomplish anything I’ve ever put my mind and efforts toward.
