Meet Rob Houk | Furniture Moving and Assembly

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Houk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rob, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor to the success is how we interact with the customer. When we interact with them on the phone and in person we make sure to be respectful and relate to them. When we are in their home or wherever we may be working with them at, we try to have a conversation or include them in our jokes. A lot of service people just show up, maybe say hi and get to work without talking to you. We make sure we are friendly, get to know you a little bit and have fun with the job while getting the work done. We want to build a relationship with our customers and show them that we want to work with them. Its all about caring, trust, and relating.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets us apart is that we move things from room to room and hang artwork and mount TVs in addition to doing the house to house moves and deliveries that other companies do. There is no job too small for us. We also build a relationship with the customer and take extreme care when we handle their furniture and items.
It was not very easy to get to where I am today but as long as you have the right mindset, the universe will provide what you need. When you start a business there is nothing to lead you to what you need and require or to show you if you are doing things correctly. So I was and am still learning what I need to do or how to do things differently so that I am following regulations correctly and have proper protections and paperwork in place for different events. Every time that I have faced not knowing or understanding, someone I either met doing some work for them or someone I already knew has showed up and is able to help me through the challenge.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t eat out much but my favorites would be Five Guys and Buca di Beppo. I would take my friend to Huntington Beach to see lake Erie, we would go to Boss Pro Karting, do an escape room, go to a concert at the House of Blues if there is a good band in town and go hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well there are quite a few people that have played some roles or made some important events happen to get me and my company to the success we are at. I can’t say there is a single person/group but the big ones are:
All the people at Levin Furniture in Avon that I worked with for many years, thank you for trusting my team and I with your customers furniture and even your own.
My friends that have worked with me over the years, David, Alex, Zach, Billy, Felix, Austin, Adi, Rebecca and Bri.
My mentors/advisors, Michelle, Bob, Mark, and Kathy.
My right hand man Anthony who helps and cares tremendously.
And of course my family and parents who taught me to find what I want in life and believed in this from the start.
All of these people have contributed to the success of 404 Moving & More LLC in some way. I could not do it without you all!
